SA Test squad to face India

Does a bowling attack of Steyn, Morkel, Tsotsobe/Parnell, Harris/Botha look as lethal as Donald, Pollock, Ntini, Adams/Symcox or Pollock, Ntini, Steyn/Morkel, Harris? Unless SA produce out and out fast bouncy pitches, their current attack doesn't look as potent as some of their previous attacks that we have faced.

Among those I would say, steyn>donald>pollock>morkel =Ntini. And Kallis is still there. So basically, if they can get 1 more class bowler out of Parnell\Tsotsobe\DeWet their bowling would be as strong as past , perhaps.

well...steyn is quite visibly better than Donald who himself was great too. He has a strike rate of 40.4 balls per wicket.

but strike rates don't tell the whole picture. Donald was one of the very few modern day bowlers who could actually terrorize the opponents and IMO he was a far better bowler on pitches which were not friendly to fast bowling.

That's imo stuff. Steyn has a few decent exploits on sub continental pitches as well. Overall though I agree with you, the SA bowling today does not carry the same threat that the old SA attack did.

SA don't need to be so tensed, i feel they have got settled line up aswell. What they need is just see the conditions and announce the squad. I FEEL THE BEST SQUAD IS: SMITH© PIETERSON AMLA KALLIS ABD DUMINY BOUCHER(wk) STEYN MORKEL VAN DER WATH HARRIS PARNELL TSOTSOBE I choose van der wath ahead of parnell and Tsotsobe b'coz he's underrated player in my views by CSA. He's good swing bowler,bowls wicket to wicket and when pitch has inconsistence bounce he is very useful bowler as he bowls at decent pace as well. And above all he can bet aswell. These days u need good tailenders to win test matches. I still remember his big hitting innings he played against Aus in 2006 when they chased 434 he scored 35 runs with 4 Sixes in about 20 balls(not sure abt balls). So they should pick him i feel it and hopefully they will pick him.

LOL! Do these guys realize that the likes of RSD, SRT, Viru, VVS and GG will be facing the attack and not the Rohits, Yusufs in tests ? If they think short deliveries will bother these lads, then all I can say is good luck to RSA. India really need the RSA curators to fall in their own trap by laying out green pitch. A drawn series or India win, it's the only way the result's gonna go.

(or are you saying that SA will not win the series no matter what the pitches?) Either way - I do think that SA have an excellent chance to win since their batting lineup is very strong and they are well versed with the conditions there. Bowling wise, SteynGun (and to some extent Morkel's bounce) will be the differentiating factor. But more than all of this - I think the fielding/catching will make the final difference. The Proteas will convert half chances into catches and runouts. That can be a huge asset to their bowlers. So, saying that only a draw or India win is the only way the result's gonna go is quite likely to backfire. Having said that, this is the best chance for India given it has got a great Test team. India does have a good chance to fight and can (hopefully) make a memorable series, but they certainly dont start favorites. Not by a long shot.

This can backfire or it may not. We will have to wait for the series to begin only then would we come to know how well our batsmen would be able to adapt. As per Hudson's suggestions that we struggle with "Bounce" balls i think it's wrong. Our record in Aus should prove that. But in general our batters have struggled in SA. That's more so coz in SA the balls bounces and it moves around a lot as well. This does not happen that much in places like Aus or Eng. But off late teams which have tried to go ahead and bounce our batters out have generally struggled. But then you are talking about bowlers like Steyn,Morkel. It's gonna be one heck of a series for sure...:yay:

well well well guys can any1 tell me where did INDIA win a test series outside Asia in Last 2YRS A part frrom NZ ???????? Please guys accept the truth INDIA is gonna struggle in all ways of cricket wether batting/bowling/fielding. SA is better in all aspects of the game and INDIA is playing in their own backyard where they r born and know every bit of their weather and pitches. On a lively wicket INDIA can bowl better yes but SA can bowl better than INDIA as they are much familier to those conditions. Even if IND draw this series its like WIN for them and this is the real deal INDIA now need to prove that they r NO.1 only by winning this series in SA other wise everyone knows INDIA is at NO.1 oonly bcoz they did not play outside ASIA these 2yrs.
