Oh small hint. The highest # of maidens played by one batsman in that innings was 9.
One batsmen played out 9 maidens, all by himself?

Yes sir. Because of that Run rate could only improve after 50th over or so.
Come on Dial, give us one more hint.. The one that you gave, isn’t really that much of a hint at all. It doesn’t help narrow down the options as such. :D

The batsmen only manged to get 1 six in that innings though one of the other batsmen, hit 3 consecutive 4s while reaching to his 100. This batsman is a superb batsman, he is considered one of the best in the world. This innings was famous for very unique reason. At least longest innings, you may say, that I have seen or heard of.

D. A.
That is correct. It was Pakistan with Shoab, Rana, Afridi, and so on. Afridi was the second best eco with 5.0 bowling 10 overs. The average upto first 50 overs was at 5 scoreboard reading 250/0 and this innings started on the 2nd day of the match and lasted upto 5th day. Dravid has this distinct record of taking 4 days to score his 100. When he was on 92 he hit 3 consecutive 4s. Sehwag on the other end was playing run a ball innings of 290+. They scored 410 runs and for the opening and missed the opening record 413 just by 3 runs. Throughout Sehwag maintain run rate of 5 and then raised it beyond 5.5 between 50 to 77th over. B->Sehwag is going to create some fascinating memories for indian cricket. Mind you Pak had scored 600+ runs with 4 guys making centuries.

Biggest hint: One the umpires of this match was a very famous, who has always been regarded as harder to impress than most with lbw appeals. He has been retired for long time now. The pitch was the devil of this game for its low bounce.
