hari504504 Posted December 20, 2010 Posted December 20, 2010 You worry about THAT money going to waste ??.. drop of water in the ocean compared to what they steal on a regular basis...
kabira Posted December 20, 2010 Posted December 20, 2010 I don't support this walk out from BJP..But Congress has been too stubborn..Why no to JPC...
Sir john Posted December 20, 2010 Author Posted December 20, 2010 @hari man, there are other issues for discussion too @kabira BJP :fail:
Ram Posted December 20, 2010 Posted December 20, 2010 Blocking partlimentary proceedings and not allowing anything to happen is probably the India version of the fillibuster rule that is often misued in the US senate. But the way the elected representatives holler and hoot in the well of the parliment and throw pieces of paper around like 12 years kids is utterly embarrassing. We dearly need some parlimentary proceedings reform.
Sachin=GOD Posted December 20, 2010 Posted December 20, 2010 Blocking partlimentary proceedings and not allowing anything to happen is probably the India version of the fillibuster rule that is often misued in the US senate. But the way the elected representatives holler and hoot in the well of the parliment and throw pieces of paper around like 12 years kids is utterly embarrassing. We dearly need some parlimentary proceedings reform. yes something needs to be done about this and something also needs to be done about this Govt's refusal to a JPC - all evidence points towards massive irregularities both by people within and outside the Govt in many scams, be it the spectrum or Commonwaelth games but the Govt is just shamelessly shielding its members.
Clarke Posted December 21, 2010 Posted December 21, 2010 What on earth was a JPC gonna accomplish ? The Supreme Court of all bodies is monitoring the investigation of the 2G scam. If one thinks that the CBI & the Supreme Court isn't enough, what makes them think that the damn political parties can sort this out better ?
Sir john Posted February 5, 2011 Author Posted February 5, 2011 2G scam: Budget session to be disrupted if no JPC, says BJP The BJP on Saturday said that there would be no let-up in its stand on a joint parliamentary committee (JPC) probe into the second-generation mobile telephony spectrum scam and threatened to disrupt the forthcoming Budget session of Parliament if the government did not accept the demand. "We stick to our demand for a JPC probe into 2G spectrum allocation and other scams and will not allow Parliament to function during the Budget session," senior BJP leader Rajnath Singh said. He was adderssing a rally where other NDA leaders, including BJP veteran LK Advani, JD(U) chief Sharad Yadav and those from Shiv Sena and Akali Dal could not reach as their aircraft did not land here due to bad weather and returned to Lucknow. The Winter session of Parliament was washed out as the opposition kept pressing the government for a JPC probe and did not allow both the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha to function, insisting on its demand. Besides corruption, the BJP leader said, the issue of price rise would be vociferously raised by tyhe opposition during the Budget session starting on February 21. "No matter how much the Congress blames us for disrupting Parliament proceedings and accuses us of harming the interest of the people, we want to tell the nation that by demanding JPC we intend to retrieve the Rs1.76 lakh crore presumptive loss to the exchequer because of 2G scam," he said. The BJP leader attacked both BSP and SP on the 2G issue saying both the parties opposed Congress in Uttar Pradesh but behaves as a UPA supporter at the Centre. Singh said both these parties initially demanded a JPC probe in the 2G scam but when the Centre expedited the probe into disproportionate assets of their leaders, they started singing a different tune by demanding a debate instead of JPC. On the issue of price rise, the former BJP president said that so long as the NDA was in power inflation was under control, but the moment the Congress came to power, prices skyrocketed. He said inflation in neighbouring countries like Pakistan, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka was not growing at the pace at which it was rising in India. He said people were fed up with the policies of UPA government and added that they would give a befitting reply to Congress in the next Lok Sabha elections. link
Sachin=GOD Posted February 5, 2011 Posted February 5, 2011 While the method adopted by the BJP to oppose the Govt regarding these scams is not right, their intentions are absolutely right. Now its been proved (almost) without a doubt that there were massive irregularities in the 2G spectrum allocation - everyone from the Supreme Court to the Attorney General has said this but still the Govt is adamant on its stand of No-JPC.
asterix Posted February 5, 2011 Posted February 5, 2011 Laaton Ke Bhoot Baaton Se Nahin Maantey.. We all know how the Parliament discussions go..Everybody do Blah Blah Blah and then Pronob Da or Manmohan Ji get angry and "slam the opposition"..Meera Kumar keeps on smiling, Bahas Khatam, Paisa Hajam..And this has been going on for years.. If the opposition were not usinted, A Raja would'nt had resigned..Just keep on "debating" in the parliament and then the session ends, everybody goes back home.. Clarke..Supreme court cannot question PM. PM is not obliged to answer the Supreme Court. Supreme court also cannot question Minister's portfolio allotments.. A JPC can do all that. A PAC cannot even question about Ministers Portfoli allotments and motives etc. Heck it cannot even question the role of the Lobbiests.. Supreme court is involved because of a motivated man named Subramaniam Swami. He is instrumental in lodging complaints and thus has Supreme Court get involved. Supreme Court doesn't acts on it's own unless a case is submitted. A JPC can look at all the aspects and can question many people including PM. PM is thickly involved in this Scam. Raja says that whatever he has done has been approved by the cabinet and PM. Supreme court cannot chek it, CBI cannot ask questions about it, PAC cannot ask about it as it just looks at the accounts issues. Ideally, if opposition had decided to do a "Bahas", Chidu mama and Pronob Dadu could've managed to get away with it and Raja could've still been the telecome minister..
yoda Posted February 6, 2011 Posted February 6, 2011 BJP is worst opposition.:(( You think if the BJP govt was in power and such a scam had happened, Cong opposition would have sat quietly? Your outrage should be directed at the scammers and not at those who are demanding a probe.
