indiaregulator Posted November 15, 2012 Posted November 15, 2012 They played in ODIs and in the World Cup where they looked miserable. Get your facts right. They are good when the ball is swinging, otherwise they are not effective. It doesnt take a genius to figure that out. Zaheer is an example of a much better bowler in all conditions as he gets the ball to swing early on with the new ball and also gets reverse swing when the ball gets old. Jimmy and Bresnan are average everywhere in ODI's, we're talking about test cricket. Even if we are talking about ODI's, doesnt both Yadav and Ishant average 40+? Bresnan a swing bowler?! WTF are you on about, he hardly ever swings the ball. lmfao at Zaheer Khan. Jimmy vs Zaheer past 3 years. Jimmy: 2010-2012 28 224 27 8.00 0 120 6/17 25.11 4 25 0 Zaheer: 2010-2012 11 133 35 8.86 0 34 4/69 29.70 0 0 0 EDIT: FTR, Anderson averages 34 in India (this is just the 4th Test match). Ishant averages 32 in India. But, Anderson is the better bowler according to you - go figure how! Above sentence. I thought you were a respectable poster but clearly you're just trying to troll and bait. Ishant Sharma > Anderson. I've heard it all now. What next, Vinay Kumar > Stuart Broad?
Crookbond Posted November 15, 2012 Posted November 15, 2012 Anderson is decent - one odd good series here and there does not make him good. He picked up 6 wickets in 3 matches against Pakistan in UAE and 9 wickets in 2 matches against a struggling Sri Lankan side who have failed to win a series - ODI, T20 and Test matches (at that point) since 2010 (about 12 or 13 series). One 5-for does not make you a good bowler in SC conditions. He has improved but he will always toil in SC conditions. There are some pretty great names in the list who have been touch above average in SC conditions. I find it slightly offensive (and annoying) when people hype up Anderson. Don't get me wrong - he's a much improved bowler but not the one whom you want to throw the ball in a Test match in the sub continent.

I've heard it all now. What next, Vinay Kumar > Stuart Broad? I am not trolling. I took your theory of argument over these days and applied it you to turn around some tables. In the days leading up to these Test matches you have been dishing out numbers left/right to prove that English bowlers bowl well in SC conditions. I just performed a reality check on you. Anderson averages 34 in India while Ishant averages 32. If your entire theory on averages to show that one bowler is better than the other is true then Ishant is better than Anderson in India. If not, you have got to stop posting numbers to sing your convenient tunes.

Ever since his revival, he has not failed a test series in the subcontinent. Went to UAE, averaged 27. Went to Sri Lanka, averaged 21 and gave Sangakarra 2 golden quackers. We'll see how well he does in this series. Anderson's average is 34 because cricinfo have added his bowling figures from today. http://stats.espncricinfo.com/ci/engine/player/8608.html?class=1;host=6;spanmax1=15+Nov+2011;spanval1=span;template=results;type=allround These are his figures taking away today.

Zaheer mostly bowls in India where the wickets are flat. Zaheer is an all around better bowler than the overrated English bowlers.
Old guy Posted November 15, 2012 Posted November 15, 2012 lol dexter anderson bowled beautifully in uae and sri lanka even today he hasnt done anything wrong he is pretty good bowler now earlier on he was jsut good inside england and utter shyte away but now with better control he is good bowler even in subcontinent and struggling sri lanka he made inform jayawardene jump all over place in late evening spell it was treat to watch :D

In UAE he took 6 wickets from 3 matches! That's hardly anything to go by even as a fast bowler - 2 wickets in one game. Anderson is an opening new ball bowler and if he gives you 1 wicket per innings there's nothing to be proud about as a "revival". As I said earlier, he has not failed but there is nothing exceptional about his figures. He is a touch above average and that's that. He bowled better in Sri Lanka - agreed but apart from the 5-for he had little to do with it.

How are England's bowlers overrated? Find me stats which show Zaheer's so called superiority. Cricinfo did a study which showed Steyn and Anderson had identical stats for the last three years. Is Zaheer better than Steyn too? In fact, both Anderson and Zaheer bowled to the same batsman on flat pitches in Australia. Khan did nothing. Anderson got the most wickets in the series.

If Anderson bowls beautifully and does not pick up wickets, he is a great bowler. Not sure what do I call that. He's a touch above average in SC conditions. I would not even look around in the field to throw him the ball. Today he has not done anything wrong? You've got to be kidding me. His line was too wide outside off stump and Sehwag get punching through the off side for runs. He could not get a struggling Gambhir out. What sort of a SR bowler is that? Long story short - he is an exceptional bowler when it swings and is a touch above average bowler when it does not. He will do well on days when there is something on offer, when there is nothing on offer he will fail big time.

Are you comparing Anderson to Steyn ? You are the one who is blinded with nationalistic agenda and cant see Anderson for the home track bully he is.

So, if one good series makes Anderson a good bowler I will pick up Ishant's 2008 Test series against Australia to make him a good bowler. Broad was injured after the 2nd Ashes TEST IIRC. We are NOT talking about Anderson in England/Australia. We are talking about Anderson in SC conditions - a leader of the attack picking 1 wicket per innings is not even touch above average; I am being lenient on him. If Zaheer Khan does that tomorrow, ICF will burn.

indiaregulator Posted November 15, 2012 Posted November 15, 2012 And you accuse him of having a nationalist agenda! He was India's highest wicket taker in that series. Still amounted to absolutely nothing. FFS you let a T20 hack get a over a run a ball century. Are you comparing Anderson to Steyn ? You are the one who is blinded with nationalistic agenda and cant see Anderson for the home track bully he is. I didn't. Cricinfo did.
Crookbond Posted November 15, 2012 Posted November 15, 2012 Still amounted to absolutely nothing. You clearly want to sing "God save the queen". You use statistics where convenient but when the noose is tightened just post 1-line bland statements which "amount to nothing". Lets wait and watch to see Anderson's "brilliant" (I hope it means 1-wicket per innings) performance in India.
Crookbond Posted November 15, 2012 Posted November 15, 2012 he did that vs new zealand And that was the first time in his entire career that India has won a Test match without Zaheer Khan picking up a single wicket.
Old guy Posted November 15, 2012 Posted November 15, 2012 And that was the first time in his entire career that India has won a Test match without Zaheer Khan picking up a single wicket. still my point stands.. when spinners take most of wickets some times fast bowlers jsut need to hold end but i will say again he bowled well even in that series even if wickets dont show it and against sri lanka even wickets came...

He bowled well in the SL series and that's that. He was not 'exceptional' is what I'm saying. Dale Steyn ripped through India on a flat placid track in Nagpur. We have not seen Anderson doing that and most probably never will for aforementioned reasons.
indiaregulator Posted November 15, 2012 Posted November 15, 2012 4 69 35 8.62 0 15 4/77 31.80 0 0 0 This is Khan's stats in the recent Aussie series. Congragulations. Are you happy now dexter now that i've proven to you he did naff all?
