With England thinking of dropping Steven Finn for the Boxing day test, it looks like Ajmal Shahzad or Bresnan may line up in the starting XI at Melbourne. As an England fan, i would much rather have Shahzad start as i feel he has more potential to take wickets and i don't really rate Bresnan as an international cricketer. However, as an Indian fan, given our bowling woes at the moment i wouldn't mind having Bresnan in the indian squad. I don't think he would get into our starting XI for tests but he would probably be in the squad but i do think he would get in the ODI XI. What do you guys think? If Bresnan was Indian (Big if i know). do you think he would feature?

I like Bresnan as an ODI bowler, he is fairly intelligent and can be tough to score against but at test level he just seems like a work horse who will put in 100% whenever he bowls and is handy with the bat. I hope he proves me wrong if he is selected at Melbourne. However, i would much rather have an on form Ishant Sharma and Sreesanth in my team (unfortunately they are inconsistent).

Sreesanth is no where near Bresnan, plus Bresnan would be a handy number 8 in any side.

I have never seen Bresnan bowl a spell that has taken my breath away but i have seen Sreesanth bowl beautifully at times..

He has bowled terrific reverse swing spells both against Australia and India in 2011, but looked ordinary since then.

Problem is, they are just that. Pacers. They're not actually bowlers. Yadav and Ishant's line and length and accuracy is appalling.

Poor comment. I think you are well informed enough to know that Anderson, Broad and Bresnan are usually spot on with their line and length and are far far superior bowlers to Ishant and Yadav. Just a pointless irrelevant chance for a dig.

Ishant and Yadav are pacers not just "bowlers" was as much irrelevant if not more pointless. I am not sure what made you bring them in a Tim Bresnan thread.

Bresnan, Anderson etc. are useless in Indian conditions. They got carted in World Cup as well.

Is that why Bresnan prior to today has never played in India so you wouldn't know and Anderson averages 29 in India? Get your facts right.

They played in ODIs and in the World Cup where they looked miserable. Get your facts right. They are good when the ball is swinging, otherwise they are not effective. It doesnt take a genius to figure that out. Zaheer is an example of a much better bowler in all conditions as he gets the ball to swing early on with the new ball and also gets reverse swing when the ball gets old.

In Indian conditions, Yuvraj Singh and Ravindra Jadeja are better than Bresnan. Heck, I would prefer Venkatesh Prasad over Bresnan. FTR, Anderson averages 34 in India (this is just the 4th Test match). Ishant averages 32 in India. But, Anderson is the better bowler according to you - go figure how!

anderson is pretty good.. earlier on he was bad bowler away form home but he has improved a lot ..bresnan is overrated potato head and broad lost lots of pace
