well there's no point complaining about it...it's the toss. And if we lost 11 straight tosses, then at some point we're due to have a big run too. The thing I'm proud of is that the Indian team hasn't moaned too much either....took it like men, played, and fought well. 183/6 is not a bad Day 1 score, I think we were in a similar position in the 1st test last time around and Ganguly guided us to 250. Let's hope for the same from these two.

Stop complaining about the toss of the coin and start to realize that India struggles against a strong SA side , India didnt apply themselves better in the batting ,

In this test, with overcast conditions predicted for most of the remaining 4 days, toss may not play such an important part. The thick live grass cover with clouds hovering whole day will make batting equally difficult for SA. On a side note, Irfan Pathan would have been such a handy bowler on this track.

Cricket is a game of bat and ball , not the "COIN" Every post i read has a comment about the toss of the coin. I agree that it has an advantage , but for heavans sake , get over it and carry on with the game , Worry about playing well in cloudy conditions , rather than drowning your sorrows because India lost the toss. HAve we lost the plot????What is cricket about??? Cricket is about bowling well and batting well in different conditions , The toss of the coin lasts a few seconds , dwell on it for a few seconds and move on. India fans are using it as an excuse for their poor performance in South Africa. India are up against a strong South African side in Africa , they need to fight like champions instead of their fans complaining about the toss every post on the forums. Justify your number 1 postion by batting and bowling well and winning the series in SA. India fans stop looking for excuses like the toss of the coin if the India team loses in SA , rather look at the way India team performed in the conditions. So can we all move forward from the coin issue and get back to reality and the basics of the game. Lets see what happens in day2 , brilliant game , brilliant players , wonderful ground , may the better team win .

Andy , IS India coming to a point where they want freebies? What will India fans ask for next ? to play with 13 players? or for the oppostion to give them 100 runs head start? Do you see my point , I dont mean to disrespect anyone , but it sounds like reality is setting in for fans of India is getting desperate to look for excuses for Team India bad performance in Africa.

Hello sir , we are talking about test match cricket here , lets not stray away from the topic here . But i am sure smith and the rest of south africa will get on with the job of playing the game of cricket whether SA win or lose the toss in world cup. We perform well in India always , remember we drew the test series in India in the beginning of the year. India is great side at home and SA managed to do well in that series.

No India doesnt Need freebies, Thats why the players are still playing over a Forest without Utterring a Word. South Africa surely do need freebies , else why would they bowl first after Wining the toss twice? They could have batted too .. :giggle: And You should stop singling out India as bad performers unless SA Doesnt bat first on a Pitch that has trees grown over after Over night rain and the play delayed due to wet outfield. If SA Bats first under similar conditions and score 500, You wont hear people complaining about the toss. But that will not happen. SA have cried before too regarding the quality of pitches in 2008, that time they were ahead of India in terms of Rankings. So you should be the last person questioning why Indian fans are crying about the toss. South Africa wouldnt have made more than 200 on this track if they batted first. But coward smith will chose to bowl all the time as he knows he will be pawned against Zak , Shree and Ishant n a Green track.

Andy , then why must SA let India bowl first , we would also like to bowl first due to conditions , thats why there is the toss of the coin . What is great is SA play in India of the flattest pitches and drew ithe series in India . Sa always prepare for the sub continent , but on the other hand India have not got a quality bowling attack , only maybe Zaheer and Ashish Nerha , Javigal Srinath was good in SA.

Then they should make a Track that would Favour the bowlers throughout. Not the one we had in first Test, Clearly advantage was with the team that wins the toss. And Playing on Flattest possible tracks and drawing series in of no credit, Even if SA plays Pak in the Flattest possible tracks, just what it was in Dubai they will draw series . I do not agree SA prepare for sub continent they struggle Massively in Sri Lanka and We in SA. Other than that both are good teams away from home.

This is South Africa's home series, they can prepare whatever kind of track they want. Just like India prepares dust bowls, just like every "home" game Pak plays has flat pitches. The visiting team, which boasts the best batting line up by the way, should be able to play on these wickets. And to be fair, India did play quite decently on this wicket, and look like they will post a score around 225-250.
