There are lots of things in this article that was totally unnecessary. It's a freaking game after all and the English have had their butt kicked indefinite times by the OZs.

We may have lost the Ashes but at least we didn't lose an Empire.
Now THAT is an awesome sledge! Did you make that up or has it been around a while? :haha::haha::haha::haha:

Just something a lot of Aussies say to the Poms!

As far as the article it just screams of sour g****s. Yes we kicked your ass at cricket for the past 20 years, but what's the point in claiming that 'all Australians are bad losers', or just plain making things up?. He forgot to mention that Australia are ranked 3 spots higher than England in rugby union, and said Australia is 'continually' beaten by New Zealand, when in actual fact we've lost to them twice in the past 10 years or so. Not to mention the countless other sports we destroy them at - swimming, tennis, athletics, netball - even Mark Webber finished ahead of the other Englishmen in this years F1. Has he forgotten that we doubled their medal tally at the Commonwealth Games? All this from a country less than a third the size of theirs. Perhaps he's just sour because the colonial backwater of his land are now ranked higher in just about every aspect of life - quality of life, education (Australia 2nd with the UK 26th on the Human Development Index). Maybe he's hurting after his nation was destroyed by the Global GFC bomb which has left millions without jobs, while Australia remained untouched. It's quite sad for someone to write this, for most English people are great. It's quite a pathetic piece of journalism and I really hope he doesn't believe what he is writing. Being ungracious in defeat and purely arrogant over winning two matches in Australia? Give me a ****ing break.. CBF ranting anymore.

http://www.dailytelegraph.com.au/poms-rant-reveals-repressed-resentment/story-fn6bmfwf-1225979020179 OH, DEAR. Poor Giles Coren. Following England's Ashes victory, the English food critic - he'd be a busy bloke - and columnist yesterday launched an extraordinary attack on Australia and Australians. The last time England won here, middle-aged Coren was too young to vote. Clearly, his rage has been building for some time. Yesterday it exploded in a riot of cliches and the furious stamping of Coren's tiny feet. In a way, he's done us a favour. His spite-filled rant articulates the repressed resentments of a sizeable minority of Coren's pitiful "united" kingdom. It also inelegantly reminded us all why those nations surrounding Eng-er-land - Scotland, Ireland, Wales and, for that matter, the rest of Europe - despise Coren's countrymen so deeply. In a word, it's snobbery. Having lived in London for a few years I can attest to the smug sense of superiority within every Englishman, be they inbred toff, toothless, neck-tattooed soccer goon, or restaurant-reviewing fancy boy. Start of sidebar. Skip to end of sidebar. .End of sidebar. Return to start of sidebar. The only problem for them is England wins so rarely - in any human endeavour - they can hardly ever get a chance to mouth off about it. So when a rare away-from-home Ashes conquest comes along, like a very shy comet, out comes the gloating. It's telling that Coren references such outdated Australian stereotypes. Most of them date back decades, presumably to a time when the English had more reason to gloat. They're out of practice. To Coren, we're still a nation of misogynists, illiterates and racists. It's a cardboard cut-out view, with outmoded gags that ran out of gas about the time of Sydney's first Mardi Gras. Coren's portrait is akin to us characterising England as a land of bolshie unionists, Carry On movies and Twiggy. This hasn't been the case for many years. You almost have to go back to when England had an automotive industry. Coren claims Australia has no culture, barring Neighbours and Home and Away. Which, incidentally, Brits devour like so many chip butties. Hey, Giles. The hottest Oscar contender this year stars an Australian teaching your old king how to lose his stutter. Take that, m-m-m-mate. But let's ignore all the Academy Awards, Booker prizes and Nobel Prizes in the arts Australians have claimed. Two words for you, son: Elizabeth Hurley. She hasn't exactly been seeking comfort from any Englishmen lately. Back to the sporting field. Forget that no Englishman has won at Wimbledon since before World War II, and that recent British players had oddly Canadian accents. And ignore the fact Australia has whipped England at every Commonwealth Games, the only international multi-sport contest in which they are forced not to rely on their minions to prop them up, since 1978. Dare I suggest that England and Great Britain's success on the track owes more to a slave trade that established black colonies in the Caribbean than anything else? Yes, I dare. Incidentally, Giles, where do England's cricketers stay when they tour South Africa? With their mum and dad, of course. An old joke, that one, but it's funny because it's true. For me, the battle between England and Australia across all competition was best summed up by a banner displayed at London's Upton Park football ground back in February, 2003. Australia was playing England in their national sport, "football". It was called a friendly but that was a misnomer. The Poms wheeled out superstars including David Beckham, Wayne Rooney, Paul Scholes and Rio Ferdinand. As the teams jogged out, the camera panned to the terraces, where an Australian supporter held up this sign: "If we win this, you suck at everything." And guess what? The Socceroos thrashed them.Even when then-English manager Sven Goran Eriksson brought on a fresh XI in the second half Australia cantered home 3-1. And what's with the we, Giles? The "we" as in, "we won the Ashes"? I reckon you've got about as close to a cricket bat in your adult life as you have to a tan. I know you're just "avin' a laugh' as your countrymen say, in that appealing bastardisation of their own language. But for a food critic like you to talk about cultural superiority is taking it too far. This from a nation that has advanced its national dish all the way from fish and chips to butter chicken. A nation of warm-as-piss beer and cold pies probably made out of mole meat and the homeless. Where people still talk, with a straight face, about "classes" of human beings. Anyway, enjoy your Ashes, mate. I'm heading for the beach. The next three days are predicted to be sunny and about 29C in Sydney. London can look forward to three days of drizzle, a total of 12 hours of light and a maximum temperature of 3C. Have a good day

Dude, the dailymail invokes the Nazis everytime they play Germany in Football. Their football record against Germany is far more embarrassing their ashes record. And yeah they called their footballers the "golden" generation too. Trolling is the dailymail's business model, these hits and angry reactions is exactly what they hope to achieve.

While Giles' article atleast mentioned something or should I say was built around cricket and players, this article is as direct as tit-for-tat gets. Would've liked to read a few more lines than the "Poms are Saffers" jibe. But a good read. Wasn't as funny as Giles' article, but a decent read.
