Sooda Posted January 16, 2011 Posted January 16, 2011 They did not treat Dhawan so well by giving him one ODI and then not even giving him a lookin, probably a better ltd overs bet than Vijay for a backup openers position
rkt.india Posted January 16, 2011 Posted January 16, 2011 ^ Sachin Sehwag Gambhir Yuvraj Kohli Raina Yusuf Dhoni Harbhajan Ashwin Tiwary/Jadeja/Irfan/Ojha Zaheer Nehra Sreesanth Munaf If you had to fit him in, where will you ? i am talking he can be very good as a back up opener whenever SRT, Viru, and Gambo not playing..he is better than Vijay and a left hander and it will good to give him more experience at the top level...he needs 5 ODIs minimum and if he fails than its his destiny
spectre Posted January 16, 2011 Posted January 16, 2011 Who decides how many matches before discard....forumers If 5 match criteria was set for all players, then Sehwag would have been long gone from ODI circuit, there would be many others like that Vijay, though spoiling his chances, is a highly talented bat. He is very classy and at the same time a powerful striker. He needs that one defining innings, just think of this guy, he has been always a backup guy not knowing whether he would play till the morning of a match, most times. Still he has performed so well in test arena and shown his striking ability in IPL. He took apart many top international bowlers for CSK. But no excuses for throwing such good opportunities. i am talking he can be very good as a back up opener whenever SRT' date=' Viru, and Gambo not playing..he is better than Vijay and a left hander and it will good to give him more experience at the top level...he needs 5 ODIs minimum and if he fails than its his destiny[/quote']

spectre Posted January 16, 2011 Posted January 16, 2011 ^ 100% I totally agree that Dhawan must have been given a long run
gaurav92 Posted January 17, 2011 Posted January 17, 2011 Yes Dhawan must be given a long stint at least 8-10 games to showcase the talent that he possesses :good:
expoking Posted January 17, 2011 Posted January 17, 2011 I predict Vijay will be out of all India teams by 2011's end if the selectors have any sense.
