1. Indian players will be mentally and technically very strong after the very tough tour of south africa. 2. Our team has the most number of match winners than any other team in the world 3. Home conditions and support from the crowd 4. Dhoni's cool headed approach and captaincy 5. We have got strong Reserve and bench support

no 2 is the only logical reason in there, the rest are bogus and lack any credible reasoning or thought. captaincy? strong bench? mentally strong? good lord no.

umm how about 5 reasons they can't win the cup- 1. unbelievable pressure more than being the host is of being the favorites, favorites tag does not favor india 2. injury concerns to sachin, sehwag, gauti etc. 3. bowling not the best in the world 4. bad tournament format without super 6 meaning one bad day for the team means knocked out 5. teams like SA and australia strong enough to beat india on their day

Post of the Day or may be week, I just came here to post this, there can be few more reasons why India may not win WC, though may make it to SF 6. too many makeshift bowlers, sometime it can work but there is going to be one day when it won't 7. not sure how the middle order will play (hoping Raina/UV come back in form) 8. Other then SA/AU, any team on their good day can beat India including SL, WI, ENG, PK and even NZ/BD It is certainly test of their character, I am just hoping that a deserving team wins the WC, someone who played really well through out the tournament. Keep an eye on SL too.

also dhoni has never won a cup when sehwag was in the team i heard :hmmm:
Yes only in final..so we will drop sehwag when we reach final.. I think anyways he will get injured on the eve of final.

I think people should just enjoy the tournament. Theres gonna be a lot of wrist slitting and hungama when India fails. I personally dont see them winning it all, but I will enjoy to the end if they do. I dont have any expectations from the team that is compromised of players whom are inexperienced in crucial positions in the playing XI.

I see it as, 1. After a mentally challenging tour, all our best players will be exhausted 2. Our team doesnt play like a team and depends on individual masterclass to win 3. Too much pressure because of home condition 4. Dhoni's passive and after-the-fact captaincy 5. We dont have a backup batsman or keeper in the squad, so let's pray that any of our top 7 doesnt get injured

Batting positions are overrated esp. in ODI's and T20. What a team really needs are specialists for the 1st 15 and the last 15 as everyone should be capable of playing in the middle overs. Sachin, Sehwag and Ghambhir are good in the 1st 15 and Raina, Yuvi and Dhoni are good in the last 15 and all 6 are capable in the middle overs. Only kholi (who has played at top/middle) and pathan (plays near end of innings usually) are the odd men and since only 1 of these 2 will be in the final 11, our batting is quiet good.

Batting is fine and can deliver when needed. I dont see that for bowling.

For the 1st time since 87, We are pegged as favourites to lift the world cup I think in 96, we were one of the top 3 favorites to win the WC (before it started), probably with one or two of Aus,SA and Pak pegged higher than us. Since then in 99,03 and 07 Aus and other teams were always expected to win before India. But now, we are firm favorites according to many pundits, former players and betting portals. Its not surprising since we are #2 in ODI's behind a rapidly devaluing Aus team and India will play all its games in its backyard. Is this correct? I believe that people are over rating our team based on our rise in cricket in tests more than our ODI outfit. Our team, albeit a 2nd/3rd string, lost to Zim last year, we lost to Aus at home and our starting 11 for the WC has hardly played together in the last 1 year. Our best 3 batsman are out with injuries, while yuvi, raina and Dhoni seem to be out of form currently. Bowling will be better suited for Indian tracks that it is in SA. On the opposite spectrum, People are understating Australia's chances based on its recent test form. They are the only team to beat India in India in the last 3 years which others like SA,Eng, SL have failed to do. Besides we all know how Aus can sometimes lift their game in knockout stages of the tournament. I think Aus are fav followed by India and others.
