If you knew your beloved Tendulkar so well, you'd know that around the year 1999 may be before may be after, not sure, but there were a sequence of games where Razzaq kept getting Tendulkar. I think Tendulkar said Razzaq got some zip off the surface and often the ball felt like it sped up after landing. If someone gets Tendulkar out in a sequence of games, then he's a decent bowler, but sadly Razzaq has lost all that zip he once had.
So Inzi was Tendulkar's bunny then. 6 times. :cantstop:

The point I'm making is Razzaq was once a decent bowler with a bit of zip' date=' with the ability to get out the top players regularly. He dismissed Lara in the WC with an incredibly outswing as well I remember. However all that has gone and so Pakistan rely on his not going for too many and then to strengthen the lower order with his heavy hitting.[/quote'] u can make that point, but u cant make it by saying tendulkar was once his 'bunny'. razzaq got tendulkar out a few times, but so did hansie cronje. getting tendulkar out a few times isnt indicative of one being a decent bowler. anyway, here is my take on the paki cricket team. people seem to be getting carried away after a series win against a poor NZ side 1. non-existent batting. only younis and misbah are capable of playing a long innings on a consistent basis. too much depends on these two. if pakistan are to post a decent score, one of these two will need to bat for a long period, if not for a big score. afriddi, razzaq, ukmal and kakmal arent capable of making big scores, and this makes paki batting very collapse prone, especially in a chase. should have picked youhana. 2. fragile bowling in the subcontinent. pakis suck off their bowlers a fair bit, but the fact is that in the subcontinent, they wont be anywhere near as effective as they are in places like england or NZ. a guy like razzaq will be cannon fodder as an opening bowler. the only intelligent bowlers in this unit are shoaib akhtar and ajmal. the rest can get smashed around quite easily if there isnt much assistance for them. they are good at defending totals but their bowling is nowhere near as good when they bowl first. 3. chances are pakistan will finish 3/4th in their group, sri lanka and australia being 1st and 2nd. if thats the case, they will face either england or india (my picks to top the group). can u imagine pakistan beating either of these two teams? the only easy meat for pakistan in this group is south africa or bangladesh, they most likely wont be facing either. pakistan is gonna have to win a lot of tosses to do well in this world cup. bat first, put up a competitive score, and then defend it. thats what they do best. they cant do the opposite, especially against good teams.

Lol I don't understand the arguments that some fans make. By playing on flat surfaces, it will negate the effects of Pakistan's attack? Well then surely it will make the batting stronger? Isn't that how it works? If the bowling gets weak due to a surface, the batting is made easier? You can just pick and choose conditions to make your statement seem logical.

Dude you talking about something which happened 11 years ago. Razzaq used to ball in 140's that time and was considered a good prospect. You had to pull an example almost from last millenium, shows how useless Razzaq has been in last 10-11 years. IIRC, he had also declared his retirement from cricket sometime back.

yes, it will. and yeah, maybe it will be easier for paki batsmen but most of them are crap on any surface, so it doesnt make that big a difference. i dont think there was anything illogical in what i said.

Let me put it in the most basic English that I possibly can so you understand. Razzaq as a bowler was once very good, good enough to deceive top players, including Lara and Tendulkar. However due to injuries and laziness he's lost that zip and it seems like it will never return. For 10-11 years Razzaq has chipped in regularly, do you not remember the Karachi test in 2006? Razzaq took several wickets and scored in both innings, it was a flat track. So as much I agree that he's nowhere near the player he once was. He has contributed well over the years. He's pretty darn consistent in ODIs, averaging 30 whilst spending almost all your career in the slog overs is very good. I wish Razzaq's bowling nip would return, but that's very unrealistic, what is realistic though is expecting him to contribute with the bat. As he's showed in recent series' he still has that destructive hitting ability. Whether he comes off or not is another matter, but I can see if he and Afridi have good tournaments, Pakistan will go quite well. I like Razzaq, he's one of those few players who doesn't seem to get into to on field trouble. He also seems to play the game with a good heart, not like the others around him.

You're entitled to this opinion, but let's see how it pans out.

Where did I say that Razzaq wasn't a good bowler? Read my previous post. I agreed to point that when he emerged on international scene he was very good prospect and was a very good bowler. But over the years he didn't deliver what he could have? Don't you agree with that? Off late he has been busy in all kind of things like retiring from cricket, ICL etc. So it's not that only injuries and form slump are there to be blamed.

You are right. Pakistan need to bat first especially in knock out games because their strength is fast bowling. India on other hand cant defend decent totals against good teams so they need to win toss and chase in order to win games.

Well a bowler playing 50 tests is farm more likely to get 150 wickets than someone playing 20, even you would agree. I think it's very difficult for NZ or Pak bowlers to get 150 wickets in that period.
Zaheer played 36 Tests in the last 5 years :winky:

4.5 Abdul Razzaq to Kumar, OUT, Clatter! Around 129 kmph delivery and it was the typical Razzaq dismissal. That one that has troubled the likes of SRT. It landed full in length just outside off and skidded towards middle and off line. Kumar went for a drive, and went slightly outside the line. It goes through the bat and pad gap. NR Kumar b Abdul Razzaq 2 (13b 0x4 0x6) SR: 15.38 It's incorrect to say Tendulkar was his bunny though.
