Should Virat Kohli Be in the Playing XI ?

I feel Virat should definately be in the playing Xi considering his exploits last season and the fact that he plays Pace and Spin pretty well. He should definately come into team the question is who would you keep out ? one out of sachin/segwag/gambhir or one out of yuvraj/raina/pathan ??

Yuvi in his current batting form does not deserve a chance in the batting lineup. He may be in the team for his bowling but that would mean pretty much a waste of a batting position TBH.

i feel india will have to be selective and play players after looking at the opposition, virat should definately play against South Africa and England because he plays the PACE very well, they can rest him against minnows to give exposure to Yuvraj or Raina to bring them into form.

I would sit Raina because of his inability to play short balls. And the teams we are playing against have quite good seamers who are aware of this fact. Raina got humbled by South Africa and England both. Not that he cannot play even on sub continent pitches but he will be wary and would not play the usual self so his confidence is really down and i would play virat instead of him.

You've said it yourself - its not that he can't play on sub continent. He one of the best finishers in ODIs and has been consistantly performing for the last few years and should be in the team.

Well yes he might have been but that is not the recent past , right from sri lanka series south africa series he has not been scoring many, so he is the best candidate to keep out if the Team Wants Kohli in as sachin would play because of his iconic status, though i dont feel he has done a great deal in the recent past, sehwag also would play to intimidate the bowlers but again he is really 90% of the times not going to last 15 overs because of his nature, then gambhir , he has done really well and deserves the spot because he can play pace and spin very well indeed, dhoni has not done a great deal but he's the only keeper, and the captain, Yuvraj has to be playing because he bowls his quota of 10 overs more than raina or rohit or sehwag + his batting is starting to get into shape, he is anyday better finisher than raina and lastly pathan , well all would agree it would be foolish to keep him out looking at his recent performances. Hence Raina is the only candidate to be replaced. His past performances have been against bowlers who bowl spin and medium pace. I feel he struggles against genuine pace like Roach, Stuart Broad, Steyn etc.

I am tired of these Virat's inclusion/exclsuion thread. I mean what is it??? He is by far one of the top 5 bats in the world today in terms of run scroing. How the hell can you make the guy sit out as 12th MAN.
