urbestfriend Posted February 9, 2011 Posted February 9, 2011 In the latest India Today Magazine, there is a report about this guy, Hasan Ali Khan, A 56-year-old alleged stud-farm owner based in Pune, allegedly possessing 8 billion USD in one of the swiss bank. A scrap dealer who earns 30 lakhs per annum has amassed 8 billion USD in black ( which has been found by investigative agency, god knows how many more billions he has ( ), quite shocking :omg: This can only happen in our great country :winky: Whats more shocking is that the governement of India hasn't done anything for last four years to recover this money, although they have collected evidence about this guys wealth 4 years back. Who is protecting him? How has he amassed so much money? Nobody knows..! http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hasan_Ali_Khan http://indiatoday.intoday.in/site/Story/127982/Cover%20Story/hassan-ali-khan-has-$8-bn-in-black-money-in-a-swiss-account.html On a related note, Chidambaram has accepted in the parliament that swiss banks have 1500 billion USD of Indian black-money. According to the data provided by the Swiss bank, India has more black money than rest of the world combined. This may be just tip of iceberg. Tehelka has released 10-12 names of the people who are having deposits in swiss banks to avoid taxes. But our great central government isn't taking any concrete steps to bring back this money to India..Why? :dontknow:
Roshanrocks Posted February 9, 2011 Posted February 9, 2011 because everyone in the ministry has black money staashed somewhere or the other
urbestfriend Posted February 9, 2011 Author Posted February 9, 2011 Tehelka Magazine in its latest issue has disclosed details of 15 Indians who have hoarded their black money in foreign banks. In addition to these 15 names, Tehelka claims that it posses another two names, one is a prominent politician and another one is the chairman of a leading company. But had hold back their identities for verification. List of 15 names include Manoj Dhupalia, Rupla Dhupalia, Mohan Dhupalia, Hasmukh Gandhi, Chintan Gandhi, Dilip Mehta, Arun Mehta, Arun Koohar, Gunwanti Mehta, Rajnikant Mehta, Prabodh Mehta, Ashok Jaipuria, Raj Foundation, Urvasi Foundation and Ambunova Trust. Two years back in 2009, German authorities handed over a full list to the Indian government but the government had admitted that it will not disclose the names in public as per the tax treaties. The German authorities purchased the data from an ex-employee of LGT Bank, the flagship bank of Liechtenstein. According to information with ET, the full list offered by German authorities also includes the name of a well known Chennai-based business group and some diamond traders. http://www.topnews.in/list-black-money-account-holders-disclosed-tehelka-2310434 Dhupalia,Mehta,Gandhi, Jaipuria...Does these names strike a chord, which part of India these crooks are from?

Holysmoke Posted February 9, 2011 Posted February 9, 2011 Holy sheet. All palanpuri jains (gujju-speak for diamond traders :ohh:) Some of the biggest names in the global diamond industry dominate the list published by the Tehelka magazine of people having secret accounts in the LGT Bank of Liechtenstein. Some of the diamond barons named in the list are Gujaratis having roots in Palanpur. Also on the list (which gives names of people who have allegedly stashed away ill-gotten money in the foreign bank) are brothers Arun Mehta and Dilip Mehta. Arun Mehta is co-founder of Rosy Blue, the world’s largest diamond manufacturing company, while Dilip Mehta is the CEO of the Group. Arun Mehta is an Indian citizen and lives in Mumbai. Dilip Mehta had given up Indian citizenship and operates out of Antwerp, Belgium. They have offices and businesses all over the world. Arun Mehta could not be reached despite several attempts to contact him on his phone. Prabodh Mehta of Gembel Diamonds, who belongs to the family that founded Mumbai’s Lilavati Hospital, is also named in the list. The names of Rajnikant Mehta and his wife, Gunwanti, also figure in Tehelka’s list of people having accounts in LGT Bank. It is understood that Rajnikant Mehta is no more (he passed away in 1996) while Gunwanti Mehta could not be contacted. A source close to the Mehta family, however, said that they had done nothing wrong, and that no illegal or black money was kept in the foreign bank. The source further said that Rajnikant Mehta was a non-resident Indian. He also said that the family was co-operating with the tax authorities. The allegations have come as a bombshell in the diamond industry. The list was the talking point of stunned members of diamond fraternities in Mumbai and Surat in the last 24 hours. They own 12% of Kochi IPL team. Meanwhile, suspended IPL commissioner Lalit Modi who was always had his doubts about the Kochi franchise, tweeted saying, "Kochi team stands exposed once again. Hope folks (read: BCCI) figure out that due diligence is key."
