GautiMaan Posted May 25, 2012 Posted May 25, 2012 Well either be mature enough to acept the danger of a live-in relationship or just get married
bangladeshifan Posted May 25, 2012 Posted May 25, 2012 the point of live -together is no long-term commitment. when both feel that they can live rest of their life 2gether then they get married. otherwise they just split up. it is very straight forward in west. but in india situation is very different bcs still in this twenty freakin first century cast thingys comes into marriage (which is an utter shame) and girls/women shud think not twice but more before getting into sexual relationship or living together before marriage. the man is guilty on moral bases here but no way he can be charged for rape IMHO. 8 yrs or 8 days doesnt matter the point is they were living together and the girl was not forced into sexual intercourse.
Prakat Posted May 26, 2012 Posted May 26, 2012 http://www.wral.com/news/local/story/11138958/ Reasons could be plenty. The question is something different and in context to the situation in the article. Under the same live-in relationship if the roles were reversed viz. the woman "left" the man to marry another one, could the man sue the woman for rape charges? You respond to 'What reason...' with 'Reasons could be plenty.'??? And my previous post covers why the 'roles were reversed' situation wouldn't exist in the first place. This is just your natural fear of women and a misogynist interpretation of equal rights (fecking women, right?) that is talking. My only response is (and this is probably the only cure for this), get to know a woman well and then come up with your theories.

Pravin - I don't think it's ok for you to judge me on what I write on the Internet. I posted one link to "What Reason", for others you have the Internet at your disposal to check the answers for your question. I am not seeking any answers in that regard. Next, I'm not sure you quite understand where I am coming from (definitely not misogynist but I want laws & rules to be "equal" ). I am dumbfounded on how the man in this situation could be charged of "rape".
akshayxyz Posted May 26, 2012 Posted May 26, 2012 Considering that the man is physically stronger than the woman (this is a safe assumption) what reason would he have for getting raped? What was the force being applied. In many a relationship, a woman makes a lot of adjustments especially in the bed. One such is that in the hope of marriage she has intimate relations with the man which she could have denied if no such promise was made. A man would never be in a position like that. Psychological/emotional forces, phorces of physical attraction, seduction..etc etc. Considering that men are weaker on those fronts, a 'powerful' woman can easily manipulate a man around and have been doing so for ages. In Louis CK's words. [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZpW3orlfp7E]Louis CK - Girls vs Boys - YouTube[/ame] *The toy example may be fictitious, but that's exactly how women exercise their power in real world, most of the time successfully.
Prakat Posted May 26, 2012 Posted May 26, 2012 ^ Emotionally and psychologically weak men are prey not just to certain women but to everyone from the local grocer to multinationals (Axe deo?). Most women with a choice wouldn't touch them with a barge pole. And if you gets preyed upon for being mentally weak (not retarded) then it is all on you. And yes, if you are in a relationship where the woman uses your attraction for her manipulatively then you are the fool. And fools get slaughtered.

How that that relevant to my question especially because it just goes on to prove my point that women are more vulnerable to being raped than men. And now I have to search the internet to figure out what on earth you are talking about when you say that men can also be raped? Coming to the particular case, I don't see how this can be put under the ambit of a rape charge. What happened to the "Breach of Promise" law?

Here's one reason http://www.dnaindia.com/world/report_zimbabwean-men-fear-being-raped-by-sperm-hunting-women_1666915 :D lol funny story. You do of course realize that this isn't really a pressing problem faced by men in the world in general. So still don't know what your point is.

And yes, if you are in a relationship where the woman uses your attraction for her manipulatively then you are the fool. And fools get slaughtered. In the same vein, physically weak woman should know her limitations, and act accordingly and try not to get into situations where her physical limitation wouldn't be the 'deciding factor'. You are being overconfident about your 'immunity' and underestimating the power of 'emotional atyachar'.. I am not talking about one-night of seduction/manipulation...or con jobs or false/misleading adverts by companies..... I am talking about slow & planned poisoning...A woman can 'get her job done' over several years.. and one would not even realize. A poor guy likes a gold chain on a woman - he tries to snatch - and get punished, if get caught. A woman sets her eye on a rich/well-to-do guy - slowly works her way through, and when she had had enough.. dumps the poor guy...no charges here,....though the guy gets the stick for 'being dumb'. We keep hearing quite a few cases (which are able to come out), where few 'dumb' man murder or commit some crime 'under the influence of some woman', and very rarely we would see the woman being charged. It is easy to sit outside and say that that particular man was dumb to allow being manipulated - but no one knows what all he went through.
akshayxyz Posted May 26, 2012 Posted May 26, 2012 In short - IMO - a man exercising his physical power (over a weaker one) - to get what he wants, is not much different from a psychologically/emotionally superior woman exercising her 'powers' - to get what she wants. In one case - there are visible physical scars, in other case the mental scars/damages are not immediately visible - but can be more debilitating.....
akshayxyz Posted May 26, 2012 Posted May 26, 2012 Spoken like a true caveman' date=' Akshay.[/quote'] If you have nothing to say go Ad Hominem. You are failing to see the abstraction, not your/my fault - abstract concepts are difficult to grasp (and explain). Case1: You have M amount of power X, put against someone with m (<<>>n) of same power Y. In both cases, both opponents are aware of the (significant) relative weakness/strengths of the other one. In both cases, relatively powerful person chooses to abuse his superiority to exploit the other one - to fulfill some selfish motive of his/her. What is the basis you are choosing, which one of the power-abuse/exploitation is worse than other - w/o even having a formal/objective way of comparing the powers, evaluating the damages...?

In one case - there are visible physical scars, in other case the mental scars/damages are not immediately visible - but can be more debilitating..... I sort of agree. Women are known to use their charm, power of seduction and manipulative habits to get men into their power and get them to do what they want. Men have no advantage over women in those areas. I had two friends, a girl and a boy. The boy proposed and the girl did not say either no or yes. She kept it hanging giving him hope from time to time. The boy drove her to college everyday, drover her back, paid for her lunch, paid for her movies and other stuff all the time in the hopes that she would say yes. The girl in the mean time would smile at him, blush, rest her head on his shoulders and whisper sweet nothings. A few months later it turned out she had a boy friend of six years, who was a bum. The girl just needed someone to pay for her stuff. The result: the girl got two tight slaps in front of many people. Police came in and the boy was seen as a villain who had done something terribly wrong.
Prakat Posted May 26, 2012 Posted May 26, 2012 Both you and DomainK are displaying the classic traits of what is known as the Fear of the Feminine. This is a well-documented worldview common in men in the Middle-East and South-East. This is what leads to suppression of women and a preponderance of such mythology. For this position one must first take the kind of men you typify, as the norm - that we are somehow passive players in a world actually run by women who are the hunters. In this topsy-turvy world men are the prey who are incapable of rising above their reptilian brain and are instead completely vulnerable and helpless in the face of the 'charms' of a comely woman. Men who in essence don't stand a chance in a battle of will with a woman. The truth, that you may one day wake up to, is far more fascinating and fun from the man's point of view.

I'm not failing to see anything here. I referred to you as a caveman because your opinion is essentially the caveman's life. The fundamental requisite for Civilization is the elimination of physical force from society.
akshayxyz Posted May 26, 2012 Posted May 26, 2012 I'm not failing to see anything here. I referred to you as a caveman because your opinion is essentially the caveman's life. The fundamental requisite for Civilization is the elimination of physical force from society. That is just one view - need not be the only truth. In my view - as long as there is some form of force, which can be (unfairly) used to manipulate for selfish goals of select few - it needs to be controlled. ( Notice that I did not say elimination). There is no evidence of 'fear' of any power in the abstraction I have presented. But you surely are choosing to be ignorant about existence of other types of forces, than just physical ones. Besides, it is arrogant to say that, as a civilization, you/we know everything we needed to know about all types of powers and their effects/place in civilized society.
akshayxyz Posted May 26, 2012 Posted May 26, 2012 You must have heard about sociopaths/psychopaths...phrases like 'power of mind'.... effects/power of stuff like these are only beginning to unravel ...(modern psychology)... so its too early to say that it is only 'physical forces' that needs to be moderated - for healthy civilization. P.S. One wouldn't expect a caveman to know much about psychology either.

That's also sign of power abuse/arrogance :P. It is supposed to be fun for everyone - in a civilized society. I wouldn't want to take the ad-hominem track that you have started and not willing to leave. For now - from mathematical standpoint - I am able to see and talk about existence and effects of more types of forces, than you are (only physical forces have real world effects, and only those can be abused!!)...so, guess who needs to wake up to larger set of possibilities and knowledge-base.
Crookbond Posted May 26, 2012 Posted May 26, 2012 lol funny story. You do of course realize that this isn't really a pressing problem faced by men in the world in general. So still don't know what your point is. Since you don't see the posted situation as a case of "rape" the question doesn't apply to you. My point in short is - If the man in this situation is accused of X, if (under the exact same conditions) roles are reversed the woman should also be accused of X. I don't see how this is being misogynist or "fearing the feminine". In my understanding, I am just being averse to gender bias.
