Its not really necessary that the person you wish be a Muslim. The person in front doesn't have to be a Christian, you can still wish him/her a merry Christmas, you can wish happy birthday to a person whose birthday falls after a month and so on... Sir_Afridi, Jahan tak meri samajh hai, the word ' Milad' is wrong. Its a commonly made mistake, especially in the sub continent. 'Milad' refers to any birth. But the correct name of the festival is ' Eid al Mawlid an Nabi' . I am not 100% sure about this, but in Arabic, the word 'Mawlid' is used specifically for Prophet Mohammad's ( s.a.w) birth. I could be wrong, or maybe I don't recollect properly. But you can check it up.
