^ I agree... Yuppo is a hit or miss. Raina is much more consistent. Nobody in the wildest dreams expected Yusuf to do well in SA. I am still skeptical about his consistency. But he earned it though.

I still dont understand why Yuppo cant be dropped and Raina be picked. Yes, Yuppo had a good run after NZ series. But Raina is an old-hand relative to Yuppo, and Raina has better batting talent than Yuppo. Tough call between Raina and Yuppo Both Raina and Yusuf Pathan can bowl a bit of offspin when required. So, thats sorta equal - perhaps advtg Yuppo there. Batting: Yuppo can smash it BIGGER but is more hit/miss compared to Raina.
I think the Indian conditions suit YP a lot more than UV, Raina or even Dhoni for that sake. He is an absolute smasher of spin and the non-bouncy pitches will have him a better run against the pacers as well. I won't be surprised if he scores a couple of centuries at 200 sr against the minnows :crazy4: cant wait for it.

Yes raina > Yusuf anyday, and on the current form basis Raina is playing better than Yuvi too, so if someone has to sit out, it has to be Yusuf, unfortunately for him. But as I said earlier, we can take the risk of going in one bowler short and place in Yusuf along with Raina Yuvi and Kohli

Now that RJ and Rohit are into oblivion' date=' Dhoni silenced his doubters with the brute innings, Raina took their place as your new downguy?? And you just can't live without a downguy, can you? :--D[/quote'] I've supported RJ in the past and Rohit too. (And now don't twist the argument). And tell me just how on earth is Raina is a better player than Yuvraj or even Virat Kohli. The guy can't play the bouncer if he had his life on the line. Agreed he has good figures but he's just not a viable option in comparison to Virat, for Virat has scored runs in heaps in the run-up to the world cup. I fail to understand why Raina fans have to get sour gra-pes. This is Team India for heavens' sake.

I like Raina as much I like Kohli as much as I like Yuvi as much as I like Gambhir. Everybody is the same for me. But you always have some downguy, whom you will abuse ruthlessly for a period and then move on to the next one. Why this obsession with putting our own players down and abusing them?

There is no question on Will KOHLI play ???? He surely is going to play the question is will dhoni look to play YUVVRAJ/RAINA ?? My pick is RAINA ofcoz. Yuvraj is past look at raina's last INNS he hits the ball so well while YUV can't even connect bat with ball these days & IND have got enough bowlers to bowl 50 overs so no need for YUVRAJ please.

What does Kohli have 1) Form Form 2) Better against short stuffs 3) Not letting pressure get to him 4) under-19 experience as captain of world cup winning team What he doesn't have 1) Might not be a suitable option down the order 2) Not really a genuine big six hitter though he can hold his own forte on a given day What does Raina have 1) Amazing hitting prowess. 2) Genuine game changer. Can turn the match on its head in a matter of 2 or 3 overs 3) Good temperament. Much more experience 4) Has been one of our best finisher in recent times ( a very very tough role to play compared to top order role) 5) Bit of bowling What does not Raina have 1) Form 2) vulnerability against short stuffs 3) Shot selection has become worse.. can be related to form Both are great fielders. Both play well under pressure.

Why this obsession with putting our own players down and abusing them?[/quote'] There is nothing like that. Sometimes however, when comments like "yuvi should go and let raina play" or "lets drop bhajji and sreesanth for they didn't pick 5er for the past two games" is the kind of hysteria that irritates. Nothing more to that. If you think there is, I'm sorry, I have no intention to do the same.

I think Yusuf will sit out and Raina will play becoz of 3 bangladeshi left arm spinners, but we are going to commit an even bigger blunder tomorrow by going with 3 seamers

what gives you that impression :hmmm: till now all the spinners have bowled quite outstandingly in the warm up matches so I'm hoping for 2+2 instead of 3+1

Kohli is a miles better batsman then Raina. Raina is a FTB. But these games are on Flat tracks, so let the bully play. We have sachin, gambhir, sehwag and dhoni to bat long. We need power hitter raina in last 10. He is the difference between us posting 300 or 350.
