Sachinism Posted February 17, 2011 Posted February 17, 2011 The most heated debate in recent weeks about the composition of the Indian team for the World Cup has been who among Virat Kohli and Suresh Raina will make the final XI. MS Dhoni gave the first clear indication of the Indian team's decision when he said, after the warm-up match against New Zealand, that the in-form Kohli is likely to play at No. 4 in the opening match against Bangladesh. "Right now it is a matter of deciding slots; it's the No. 4 slot where Virat Kohli needs to bat with Gautam [Gambhir] at No. 3, because to perform to his potential Virat needs to bat up the order," Dhoni said in Chennai. "Raina has done well for us batting at No. 5 and No. 6, still there's a bit of a chance that Virat may get an edge over Raina seeing the current form that he [Kohli] is in." http://www.espncricinfo.com/icc_cricket_worldcup2011/content/current/story/501317.html
Sid Posted February 17, 2011 Posted February 17, 2011 Yuvi's bowling has really came in handy for him,still talk is of dropping Raina or Kohli and Yuvi is a certainity,lol
spectre Posted February 17, 2011 Posted February 17, 2011 Raina should play @ No.6. Kohli or Yusuf Pathan can sit out if needed.
Sachin=GOD Posted February 17, 2011 Posted February 17, 2011 Raina should play @ No.6. Kohli or Yusuf Pathan can sit out if needed. ++
jusarrived Posted February 17, 2011 Posted February 17, 2011 We are going to regret dropping Raina , trust me on this . the only player VK should replace is Ghambir , whos role is relatively similar , not a finisher or a power hitter
gaurav92 Posted February 17, 2011 Posted February 17, 2011 I have a better idea. With this, all the batsmen can stay in the side :P http://www.indiancricketfans.com/showpost.php?p=1320720&postcount=229
Sachin=GOD Posted February 17, 2011 Posted February 17, 2011 I want the super-sub rule back :whine: :whine:
cowboysfan Posted February 17, 2011 Posted February 17, 2011 my IQ level dropped 10 points after reading some of the comments on that article,a lot of retarded people feel the need to post on cricinfo.
Malik_Bhai Posted February 17, 2011 Posted February 17, 2011 uv is lucky that he is in good bowling form.
achilles Posted February 17, 2011 Posted February 17, 2011 If there is anyone out there who thinks Raina should be replacing Yuvraj, may God bless him immensely, for he is special and needs a lot of love and care.
vvvslaxman Posted February 17, 2011 Posted February 17, 2011 Even though dropping of Raina seems logical from Indian team's perspective, i cannot bear the thought of him being absent from the XI especially against a subcontinent side. He has played 5 times against BD. Yet to be dismissed. Same way Gauti has phenomenal record against Bangla boys.

Jason Gillespie scored a 200 against them. So I disagree with your point specifically about Bangladesh as all and sundry can score runs against them.

Mere inclusion of him might force Sanga to think about excluding Mendis. Raina's carnage against Mendis in the CL should be fresh in their memory. Against teams with strong spin attack he is a very good attacking option. ONce again the tussle will be between him and Yuvi as Kohli also plays spin well.

Did you not see what he is capable of yesterday?

It was one day, one inning. Yuvraj Singh has made a career out of playing this kind of cricket. So anyone who thinks Raina > Yuvraj needs to smell the coffee.

So anyone who thinks Raina > Yuvraj needs to smell the coffee. oh yeah!! I thought it was like 2-3 years of consistent performances from Raina :hmmm: Yuvraj on current batting form would'nt even stand against Raina/Kohli/Yusuf. Its just because of his bowling that he's even being considered now - and that says a lot about someone who used to be one of the best and most destructive ODI batsmen a few years ago.
