Switchblade Posted March 7, 2011 Posted March 7, 2011 Morgan all set to replace Pietersen in England team Chennai, Mar 7 (ANI): Eoin Morgan is all set to replace England's star batsman Kevin Pietersen, who will miss the rest of the World Cup and return home to undergo a hernia operation. "Kevin Pietersen will return to the United Kingdom in the next 24 hours because of a hernia injury," said the spokesman. "England has applied to the ICC for Eoin Morgan to come as a replacement player," the spokesman said. Team officials had said on Saturday that Pietersen would undergo an operation, but only after the tournament. However, the procedure has been brought forward after the 30-year-old was clearly troubled during Sunday's six-run win against South Africa at the Chidambaram Stadium. The England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) have confirmed that they have acted to avoid further aggravation of the problem. Pietersen could return to England when his teammates fly from India to Bangladesh later on Monday for their next match on Friday. achilles Posted March 7, 2011 Posted March 7, 2011 Its Fate. Mike Hussey & Morgan, both wanted to be a part of the Cup. Voila
bulbul Posted March 7, 2011 Posted March 7, 2011 means matt prior will open again Morgan may replace Prior in Playing 11 :)
vvvslaxman Posted March 7, 2011 Posted March 7, 2011 To be frank Morgan will be more useful than KP. When KP is there.. it is all about KP. Me me me me.. attitude. Morgan is a result oriented player.
Sid Posted March 7, 2011 Posted March 7, 2011 Morgan may replace Prior in Playing 11 :) Who will keep then ?
Sachin=GOD Posted March 7, 2011 Posted March 7, 2011 Acha :hmmmm2: IIRC he can keep wickets also but is not a regular keeper by any means so I don't think he'll be the keeper for an important tournament like the WC.
Sid Posted March 7, 2011 Posted March 7, 2011 IIRC he can keep wickets also but is not a regular keeper by any means so I don't think he'll be the keeper for an important tournament like the WC. Anyways Prior or Bell will open and Morgan will play in the late middle order
Sachin=GOD Posted March 7, 2011 Posted March 7, 2011 ^Yeah, Morgan should definitely be in the middle order.
bulbul Posted March 7, 2011 Posted March 7, 2011 Who will keep then ? the way in which Prior plays now England need to take risks. i think Bopara will open as he already have exp of opening inngs for kings 11....Morgan will be a asset i middle ordet

vpg0002 Posted March 7, 2011 Posted March 7, 2011 Two of the best finishers in one day cricket today - Eoin Morgon and Michael Hussey set to join England and Australia respectively. It was bad to have ignored them in the first place, the respective teams were helped by injuries to Kevin Pietersen (unfortunate for the World Cup) and Doug Bollinger. The inclusions is certain to tilt some results in their favor especially in the crucial knock out stages. Both Morgon and Mike Hussey should have been in the squad to begin with and could have been eased into the squad as the tournament went along based on their current form and expertise. Destiny has got both of them back into their respective teams. Should be a real competive 2nd phase of the tournament.
Sid Posted March 7, 2011 Posted March 7, 2011 OK if everyone is coming back, can we have PK back too :D
dulker Posted March 7, 2011 Posted March 7, 2011 sorry to enlgldand ... peiterson v.good me thnks. Will miss
theanalyst Posted March 7, 2011 Posted March 7, 2011 Great news. First the miraculous win vs SA and now this. It's getting better for us everyday!
Gunner_Mania Posted March 7, 2011 Posted March 7, 2011 After Ireland beat England and England beat South Africa, the English decided they would be better off having an Irish in the team rather than a South African. That is the reason why Eoin Morgan is replacing Kevin Pietersen in the squad :P
