Lol... but the worst of the lot are windies referees. I remember that when Lloyd was the match ref he hardly used to go against Aussies or English but come down hard against other teams.

It sounds likely that an abdominal guard can damage the screen of a TV. I've seen the LCD of my laptop crack when dropped from a mere 4-6 inches. Surely an abdominal guard flung with some frustration would have that much force.

If abdominal guard was thrown directly at TV, I can still see some possibility of that thing breaking TV. But some thing like abdominal guard coming off the bounce from a not-so-solid surface of Kit-bag, which would hardly leave any speed on the thing bouncing off, and then breakig TV is quite hard to believe. This is of course some story that Australian dressing room came up with to protect Ponting which outside world have no option but to believe. However, I am fine with ICC reaction on this issue. It really didn't call for ban or something like fine etc.

Fixed the text. Broad's against any non-white team player would have gotten a ban for a fine.

ponting has an air of arrogance n short-tempered-ness abt him...like he said 'Its not in australian culture to do things such as match fixing' implying that its in subcontinent culture to fix matches in the context. Refusing to do congratulatory shake-hands with AB devilliars, pushing sharad pawar off the podium, sydney test, Aleem daar incidence and now this one are the few that I can recall atm....

It was an accident, which obviously doesn't excuse his actions but it should mean that some people should take back their words about "Australia having a thug mentality"..

It was not a very nice thing, but it's being blown out of proportions. He should get a warning and if he has any shame, he should issue an apology, which I think he must have done already.

well.. I doubt if that was an accident. However, in absence of any other account available we have to believe whatever stories Australian team/mgmt is giving. Anyways in either case issue has definitely been blown out of proportion..

According to CA's version, which I read somewhere, there was no damage to the tv. Ponting apparently threw his guard which bounced and hit the tv. The tv was alright. The media just exaggerated it all for attention. But that's CA's version.

I dont think a Abdominal guard is heavy enough to bounce off some other surface and still cause damage to an LCD screen. He must have hit it directly. But itni bhi badi baat nahi thi, its not like he physically assaulted a spectator or anything.

The charge relates to "abuse of cricket equipment or clothing, ground equipment or fixtures and fittings during an international match". I think it has definately been blown out of proportion. Hopefully it can now be forgotten about and we can move on.
