Its not like straight cricketers tell the world they are straight. what any individual does in the bedroom with another consenting adult is purely his own business, and IMO he neither should have to declare nor defend his sexuality. If only the world was so simple. Even today in the most liberals of countries gays are persecuted and looked down upon. Have you ever heard of a gay cricketer before? I am sure there were/are definitely more than one. IMO its like promoting women in many fields. Kiran Bedi is seen as the first woman IPS and a huge role model. Gays need their heroes too who can be a role model for them

Some countries are getting too liberal, like here in England gay people are allowed to adopt. This in my opinion is wrong.

The way the world is going it will eventually be legal to sleep with someone in public.

That holds true for straight couples too, why single gays out?
