Got to feel for Ashwin

Every bowler tries to get wickets' date=' but they have different methods, same try to build pressure and wait for the batsman to make mistakes, this is where Ashwin and Bhaji belong. Nothing wrong but both would be similar if played together for my liking.[/quote'] Can you tell me how someone is looking for wickets ,by bowling on batsmen's legs and being happy conceeding singles .You talk about buliding pressure, this is not how pressure is build up. And not to forget defensive fields for him all the time.

Not Bhajji. He just darts his way. Even in T20 cup two of his darts went for 5 wides in 2 matches which eventually cost us the matches.

And this is reason enough to play 2 offie's in the same XI, completely defeating Dhoni's purpose of picking a leggie.

We don't want an economical spinner. We want a wicket taking spinner. These 10 overs 0 for 40 is absolutely of no use from a strike bowler. He can even concede 50 odd runs as long he picks up couple of crucial wickets.

Of course, I agree this is the tread of his bowling nowadays. He is not in his best form but again his primary focus is wickets just like every other bowler, taking singles create pressure for boundaries and so chances for catches. Now, this method may not be effective( No one knows). But you cannot have all your bowlers having this approach. (Ashwin is also based on this way, waiting to catch any mistakes)

However, Chawla has left no door open for himself, I'm afraid. Piyush Chawla provides us variation, which Dhoni wants. Now we have limited options with 3 Off-spinners and 1 SLA. Chawla isn't as crap as everyone wants to think he is. Infact, if we've given him 2 games, we might as well give him the game against Netherlands to get his confidence up, if Dhoni wants that to happen, that is.

No it doesnt ,this is ODI cricket not T20

No. He is not. Ashwin is totally a different bowler. He flights, bowls straight. Most of the time pitches in line. He has carrom ball as an addition. Bhajji bowls wide outside the off stump mixed with doosras or bowls down the leg side. He very rarely pitches in line with 3 stumps.

Chawla's variations are crap, super crap, medium crap. This guy sure may end up being a decent test match leggie. In shorter versions his soft lobbed up leggies will be treated with utter contempt.

Again, you yourself have said he is primarly a wicket to wicket bowler. So again similar to Bhaji and will not give wickets always as little turn/

when they picked Chawla out of the blue i thought it was dumb move by selectors. But looking at Dhoni picking him above Ashwin, it seems to be Dhoni's move. For sheer variation they have gone for Chawla. Didn't impress in NKP salve challenger trophy as well. Atleast Jadeja was economical in challenger trophy. Didn't impress in Deodhar trophy as well. Didn't impress in IPL as well.

No.. Bhajji is not a wicket to wicket to bowler he is a outside the off stump to outside the off stump bowler mainly, sometimes outside the leg stump to outside the leg stump bowler.
