prinzo Posted March 1, 2011 Posted March 1, 2011 hi guys , I always think about this catch from Jonty Rhodes against Sachin Tendulkar. To me it is the greatest ODI catch by the GREATEST fielder of all time (in my opinion) against the GREATEST batsan of all time (FACT) , the great Sachin Tendulkar. I think it was in the mid 90's when India toured SA. Jonty was fielding at point. Tendulkar hit a shot and Jonty dived to his left hand side full stretch into the air to catch the ball with both hands. Do you guys remember this? I wish i could of recorderd it.
vvvslaxman Posted March 1, 2011 Posted March 1, 2011 You mean the one he grounded and claimed as a catch? :winky:
prinzo Posted March 1, 2011 Author Posted March 1, 2011 LOL yes yes , the same one , but he caught the ball in the air :hatsoff:
vvvslaxman Posted March 1, 2011 Posted March 1, 2011 Video? I very much doubt they have it on. When youtube was new we had some of the rarest of rarest videos. But gradually they took everything down due to copyright infringement.
DomainK Posted March 1, 2011 Posted March 1, 2011 You mean the one he grounded and claimed as a catch? :winky: Exactly. I remember that catch. That was clearly grounded.
Jimmy Cliff Posted March 1, 2011 Posted March 1, 2011 You can watch that catch around the 2:48 min mark in this video.. http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-6203567469617341238#
Sid Posted March 1, 2011 Posted March 1, 2011 One which Adam Bacher took in the Cape Town test was better
Ultimate_Game Posted March 1, 2011 Posted March 1, 2011 That was the catch which never should have been. Rhodes dived, took the catch and grounded the ball. It wasn't even that the ball touched the ground for an instant - Rhodes dragged the ball on the ground till the time he completed his dive and the ball was in touch with the ground for a good 1-2 metres.
Zap_Brannigan Posted March 1, 2011 Posted March 1, 2011 It wasnt out There was another instance this happened where jonty after taking a fantastic "catch", grounded the ball. The batsman was Dravid. That was in a finals in which Dravid hit a 80 or something. We needed something like 50 off last 10 overs. We collapsed right after. Could never find that video.
