I didn't realize India's whole WC campaign was depending entirely on Yuvraj.... to the extent that India would rather lose the WC than drop Yuvraj:omg: Actually, I agree with your last statement...... that the only way Dhoni would drop him is if he gets injured ! Well, let's hope that the other 10 players perform well enough to win the WC ; I suppose we can afford to carry a little extra baggage ! If he hadn't taken 5 wkts tonight we would have been chasing a score around 260-270 and on this pitch would have been tough to chase. Chawla nearly lost us the game tonight :nervous:

Virat is far more consistent than Raina, and it's his consistency that has helped us win matches. I'm not saying that Raina shouldn't be given a chance- all I'm saying is that in a team of pinch hitters like Sehwag and Pathan, it is nice to have a bunch of innings builders in the middle.

That is a bit stretch. He killed mendis in the champions league by hitting 4 sixes in a row. Also saeed Ajmal was taken to cleaners by Raina in the Asia cup.

pinkfreud Posted March 9, 2011 Posted March 9, 2011 I don't agree. Kohli needs to be there because he is an anchor and Raina is more of a risk taker. In today's match, I think Sachin should be allowed to rest because he still has those little niggles, and we need him in prime form for our upcoming match against SA. Sehwag and Gambhir can open and Raina can also bowl a few overs in the middle. Today should also be the day when Ashwin is given a chance to prove his merit. Dhoni has waited too long to let the benchwarmers play, today is probably the only day we can experiment with our playing XI.

So it is about competition and keeping every batsman on the toes that they can replaced by the quality batsman on the bench
