Schickelgruber Posted March 9, 2011 Posted March 9, 2011 2.5/5 Getting Average but really nothing that special.
Ultimate_Game Posted March 9, 2011 Author Posted March 9, 2011 In my opinion if you are the strike bowler you have to do the job look at it this way the likes of TAHIR' date='AFRIDI,BENN are getting wickets then you should also do the same even if these guys took wicket of tailenders or even if AFRIDI bowled second when pitch assisited him he got those wickets similarly Bhaj has to do the same[/quote'] Harbhajan hasn't even been able to get tailend wkts so far :nervous: It looks like if the batsman decides to defend the all Harbhajan has absolutely no chance of taking a wicket. In a match like Eng-SA where run-rate is not important and it all boils down to taking wickets, Harbhajan would be a liability given his current form. Even his doosras are not deceiving batsmen anymore - not even the minnows!!! Another concern I see is with our running between the wkts - we don't take singles even when the fielders are at the edge of the circle. Our batsmen hit the shot and keep on waiting at the crease to admire the shot! This is gonna hurt us against better sides such as SA, Aus, SL and kiwis where you can't bank on boundaries all the time and have to rotate the strike to keep the scoreboard ticking. Plus we have run-outs and understandings in every match and even today Gambhir was lucky to survive. Hope our batsmen are working on improving their running between the wkts and communicate better at the wicket.

vvvslaxman Posted March 9, 2011 Posted March 9, 2011 Mixed bag. Team looks grossly imbalanced. Also Dhoni has some formula to win matches. If that formula doesn't work he has no fall back plan. I keep my expectations very low.
Ultimate_Game Posted March 9, 2011 Author Posted March 9, 2011 What happened with Gambhir only saw till we were 70-1 Gambhir was out in a weird manner second time in a row... was bowled behind his legs and had that same "how the f**k did that happen" expression on his face. Frankly, I was p*ssed off with him. An intl batsman, especially as talented as Gambhir, shouldn't be throwing away his wkts like that. He got out to a pretty poor delivery in the last game coz he didn't know where the field was and today he actually missed out on a 4 while getting bowled behind the legs. He better start converting his starts as he has thrown his wkt way too often and it would be tough to keep Raina out of the team if the trend continues.

Oh yes saw that agree to that he throws his wicket away in a weird way all his dismissals in this tournament have been like that against BANGLADESH ENGLAND IRELAND and TODAY and yes he is due for a big score i also feel that he is little bit shaky in the begining
Ultimate_Game Posted March 9, 2011 Author Posted March 9, 2011 Oh yes saw that agree to that he throws his wicket away in a weird way all his dismissals in this tournament have been like that against BANGLADESH ENGLAND IRELAND and TODAY and yes he is due for a big score i also feel that he is little bit shaky in the begining I am ok if he gets out early but he has thrown his wicket away in all the games after being set. He's gout out in 20s and 30s. In a odi if you cross 20 you should be set and go on to score a big score especially if you are batting in the middle overs. I can understand Sehwag getting out in 30s while going for his shots in power-play but no excuse for Gambhir for getting out the way he did when we had already lost 3 wkts and we needed to consolidate.

Agree i heard him say that he has got starts and the big one is around the corner and he feels good about himself
Baad Indian Posted March 9, 2011 Posted March 9, 2011 Its a shame that we are having a hard time dealing with the minnows , even a team like west Indies have demolished the minnows from the word go while the minnows always took us down the wire , I think we are still not dominating anyone
Ultimate_Game Posted March 9, 2011 Author Posted March 9, 2011 Agree i heard him say that he has got starts and the big one is around the corner and he feels good about himself I hope so coz we can't afford to be 100/4 against better opponents

Switchblade Posted March 9, 2011 Posted March 9, 2011 Fact remains we are still unbeaten. :D Agree but we havent been clinical in our performance
Watson87 Posted March 9, 2011 Posted March 9, 2011 Agree but we havent been clinical in our performance We need to give credit to the minnows. They have shown a lot of fight. I bet if they played against Pakistan they could have easily beaten them. If we were grouped with Kenya and Canada, you would have seen absolute carnage. The minnows both Netherland and Ireland are a better side than Pakistan.
b555 Posted March 9, 2011 Posted March 9, 2011 losing wickets aint bad if the opposition has done well but losing them like the way we did makes it not so good performance
Baad Indian Posted March 9, 2011 Posted March 9, 2011 India was a little over-confident today when they came into bat , to send Yusuf at number 3 was a horrible move which thankfully wont be repeated again in the upcoming matches , the guy is better off at Number 7

But the good thing is that we will be ready for the knockouts :--D
Sachin=GOD Posted March 9, 2011 Posted March 9, 2011 Fact remains we are still unbeaten. :D this :--D Agree but we havent been clinical in our performance and also this :nervous:

While Pakistan may not be the strongest side in the WC, they're not so weak as to be categorized with the likes of Ireland and Netherlands.
