Switchblade Posted March 14, 2011 Author Posted March 14, 2011 @ analyst ur right Greg was the eg of what your saying
Sachin=GOD Posted March 14, 2011 Posted March 14, 2011 Not Gonna Happen Sach I know :(( but still hoping for a miracle - because thats the only thing that can improve our fielding.
Switchblade Posted March 14, 2011 Author Posted March 14, 2011 Sach Greg tried the same thing he wanted to bring fresh legs into the team at the cost of seniors he wanted the same for 2k7 WC and we know what happened but IIRC during his early days we did well in the fielding dept
King Posted March 16, 2011 Posted March 16, 2011 Good read but as usual hyped up. Throw dows and using tennis racquet to hit tennis balls is one of the primal ways of coaching. Nothing amazing about it. Wonder what he brought into the team mentally though. The Saffies are usually tough blokes and never quite give up. Either you will see them by the side of the hill or at the top of the hill. There's no second way to it. In fact their culture and up bringing is way more stricter than say an Indian up bringing. They install good discipline and are usually very hard working. You don't find a lazy South African usually. I reckon he must have brought good values and discipline in the team more than anything. Obviously he will have brought in good preparation. The only gripe I have is the lack of Saffie like fast bowling mentality he failed to bring into this team. India missed a trick by sacking Venkatesh Prasad, he had good recent knowledge of exploiting Indian tracks but then BCCI sacked him way too early despite not doing too badly.
maniac Posted March 16, 2011 Posted March 16, 2011 Gary Kirsten as a coach is way too overrated .He hasn't brought anything new to the table.Atleast Chappell for all his faults tried a lot of young talent.John Wright was the best coach we ever had and he along with Dada are responsible for changing the face of Indian cricket. Lalchand Rajput is also very underrated imho. Can someone please tell me why Kirsten is so highly rated???
vamos_rafa Posted March 16, 2011 Posted March 16, 2011 @Maniac-> totally agree about Lalchand Rajpoot. HE was given the roughest end after giving the best possible results for the Indian team. It was under him when we won against SA in Ireland, England test series, T20 WC, Pakistan series(tests and 1-dayers), the stellar performance in 2008 Aussie series, CB series. He was something like an assistant coach or manager in our team and he did wonders. And he was straight away sent to NCA and was replaced by Gary Kirsten.
