Tail-end contribution

I know this is probably the last thing on our plate to discuss about. With such a powerful batting line up you would not even think about tail-end contribution. But we cannot rule out a situation where our tail needs to step up. Both against England and SA our tail folded meekly. In 2003 world cup, Australia faced similar scenario. Andy Bichel played like a man possessed. Our tail doesn't even have to do that. The least they can do is play out 50 overs. Every other match we fail to bat out 50 overs. Is it because they just take it for granted that our top order is too strong? If they are total noobs i would agree. But Bhajji and Zak are more than capable of sticking there.

Shocking display against SA but you've got a pretty good tail (Harby and Zaheer). I'm guessing that Patel and Nehra won't play together again so that will make it even stronger. I don't think that you can afford more than one absolute bunny today. 9, 10 and Jack should be able to block atleast. It will come down to how they play under pressure. Some of them lose their heads (like vs SA) but they've got the ability.

Yes Bhaj and Zak are more than capable but il rely more towards Bhaj coz hes more consistent less said abt Munaf and Nehra the better it is if u look at the other team u have Kulasekra Malinga frm S.A Steyn Pieterson England theres Bres and Swan all the mentioned names atleast show intent to fight it out there while if u see joker like Nehra or Munaf they dont even have the mental toughness to fight it out there and contribute some useful runs it seems they just go out there for the sake of it

I'm sure they can step up if required..against SA the whole team barring 1-3 was in brainfart mode so not much to read into for the tail. Munna bhai is just hopeless..judging from his stance and technique I am not sure anyone's told him how to hold a bat before :cantstop: Other than that we're fine, stronger if Ashwin replaces Nehra or Munna as expected for next game

Exceptions can be made only if you're bloody awesome in your main skill. I don't think that those two will play in the same match again. That should make the batting stronger.

they try to frighten the opposition by showing their :--D:--D On a serious note, Zak and Bhajji are the only ones who can bat among our bowlers. Here again Praveen Kumar is sorely missed :hitler: he was a much better batsman than Nehra/Munaf.

Both of them are bloody awesome at showing their :--D:--D when they are hit for runs or when they misfield or get out on 0 while trying to bat. Other than that they may also be considered as part time bowlers :hehe:

I must admit that I love watching Patel bat. He is up there with Tufnell, Chris Martin, Walsh and Murali for sheer entertainment. I guess he is following the old Indian tailenders. I remember watching the great spinners bat (Chandra, Pras and Bedi). Absolutely shocking players.

Nehra and Munna are the worst #10 and #11 in Intl cricket. ZK can certainly bat, but he tries to go for the big swipe six, and gets out. Bhajji is certainly capable of a 30 if he puts his mind to it.

Yes he's a good blocker and all credit to him, he's improved through hard work despite a very limited ability. Munaf and Nehra can't even be bothered to improve even that much despite being much older than Ishant.

Doesn't India have the 'batting buddy' system where one top order player becomes the batting coach of a lower order player? Australia and England have had it for a while.

with the kind of bowling and fielding that Nehra/Munaf are doing in matches, I doubt if the coaching staff would have any time left to concentrate on their batting :hysterical::hysterical::hysterical::hysterical: but yeah, they should concentrate on batting just a little bit more - they have got an outstanding example in Bhajji, a man who has improved his batting by leaps and bounds in the past few months.
