ghost Posted March 18, 2011 Author Posted March 18, 2011 Yup, I read about that too and saw it on Headlines Today late last night. Apparently they're most concerned about his Piyush Chawla obsession, but what concerns me is this bit: A couple of days back, two selectors had a talk with Dhoni and he was clearly told that "Chawla has got enough chances" and that Ashwin should be in the playing XI. But the skipper was not ready to budge, even though there are senior members in the team who believe that the TN offie should get his chance. So what now? Is Dhoni still going to stick to Chawla? If he does, then he must be dealt with very strictly. This smacks of favouritism. But then, I hope this incident doesn't mess with Dhoni's mind on the field and lead our team to get affected in their performances! That said though, I don't think Gary Kirsten should have got the wrong end of the stick. That, to me, was very wrong. Everyone knows that in India, it's the captain who calls the shots, not the coach. Chappell tried to do just that, and see where it took us. That's what worrying me too:((. Dhoni could give lessons to mules in stubbornness :omg:
Zap_Brannigan Posted March 18, 2011 Posted March 18, 2011 How did the newspaper get hold of this story? If Dhoni actually goes in with Chawla, it probably would mean that Dhoni clearly cannot learn from his mistakes and that probably means no WC for us.
Sid Posted March 18, 2011 Posted March 18, 2011 Masala news or whatever,I have and will never understood why Dhoni hesitates to play Ashwin in Indian jersey, when he is his primary strike option when playing for his franchise.
DomainK Posted March 18, 2011 Posted March 18, 2011 May be Dhoni is waiting for the right time to unleash Ashwin. At least I hope that is the reason, because I can not think of any other legitimate reason.
fineleg Posted March 18, 2011 Posted March 18, 2011 Someone sneaked into the meeting room and saw the discussion between Cheeka and MSD! They got a pic too! since otherwise ICF screams Pic or STFU!

BCCI dismisses reports of Srikkanth-Dhoni row Posted: Fri Mar 18 2011, New Delhi: Media reports have claimed that Srikkanth met Dhoni to talk about the playing XI and the two exchanged heated words. The Indian Cricket Board (BCCI) on Friday rubbished reports that Chairman of selector K Srikkanth and skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni were involved in a heated debate over team selection during a meeting in Chennai. Media reports had claimed that Srikkanth met Dhoni to talk about the playing XI and the two exchanged heated words due to difference of opinion but BCCI said no such meeting took place. The reports had also said that secretary N Srinivasan was also present at the meeting. "This is with reference to reports in some newspapers about a 'meeting' having taken place between the Indian captain and Chairman of Selectors in Chennai yesterday, at which the BCCI Secretary was also present. "Apparently some 'harsh' words were exchanged, and the captain 'urged' to change the playing XI. The BCCI would like to clarify that these reports are baseless. No such meeting took place," Srinivasan said in a release. Dhoni has been facing criticism for some of his decisions in the ongoing World Cup, the most prominent being his preference for Piyush Chawla in the XI despite a flop show from the leg-spinner.

anbuchelvan Posted March 18, 2011 Posted March 18, 2011 Ashwin will not play.Mr.Doomed's house will be stoned and maoist will kidnap his wife from Ranchi.

DomainK Posted March 18, 2011 Posted March 18, 2011 See, I told ya. It's all masala news. People forget that this is not PCB. There are more civil ways of settling disputes.

asterix Posted March 18, 2011 Posted March 18, 2011 It was a Masala news.. BUT, Dhoni must've now got the MESSAGE. He might be stubborn but not stupid. To remain a ROCKSTAR he needs public on his side. He'll not like BAD PUBLICITY. It doesn't affects him if he gets criticised in various internet phorums... But it'll affect him if the media creates issues for him (even with Masala news).. So I hope he's got the MESSAGE from, BCCI, Selectors (this is a 'home' series so selectors are within their rights to 'advice' on team selection matters) and Media. So this MASALA NEWS news has ensured that Ashwin will play in the next match. Hope he gets the support and backing of his captain with good field settings etc. otherwise he might fail and then Dhoni might give a statement like "I told you so"..

I dont undst why Dhoni has to have grudge against Ashwin.. I mean this is the guy who helped Dhonis team in IPL and also champions league to win the trophies.. so why would Dhoni be so reluctant to use him?? :dontknow:

therocky Posted March 18, 2011 Posted March 18, 2011 Dhoni needs to get his head out of Chawla's ass, Now I am almost sure he will play Chawla instead of Ashwin
therocky Posted March 18, 2011 Posted March 18, 2011 How many of you thinks Team India has not really performed well besides Munaf and Nehra? I think India played really well against SA. Clearly anywhere it did not look like SA deserved to win. They struggled for 40 overs and even while chasing. Rest of the matches of India has not been like match winning but this team has the ability to play under any circumstances and I think that's what more important is. Yes we choked, but who thought we could have pulled a tie against England? I mean it was so clear India was losing right from first ball. I know this team is not performing at it's best but to me, this team looks very strong out of all the teams. Team India's problem is only one, 1 bowler. That's all they are looking for. This team has not to worry about any bowling attack from any given team. Someone will play for sure. It's the way batting line up is like. Twice they lost their openers and Yuvi & Dhoni took the charge. Point is they will carry it pretty well. They have good plans for batting. Talking about bowling, Bhaji may not have been at it's best but he does smart bowling and so Zaheer. Yuvi is a suprise package to Team India when it comes to bowling. About Pathan, I feel sorry for him. His batting order has ruined his form. This team is strong because they all are big match winners. Beisdes Munaf and Nehra, anybody can change the game from this team which makes me still believe India are favs! P.S - If Munaf & Nehra get serious about their line and length, I think it's quiet hard to beat Team India. Forget the media and news, they all just talk anything to make you read cause that's their job. But this team still looks very strong to me. Just that they have not set the rhythm yet, if you know what I mean?

Munaf has taken 9 wickets at an average of 23.11, I think they should be a age limit to use this forum, I say how about 16 minimum
DomainK Posted March 18, 2011 Posted March 18, 2011 Yea man but do you really think they will admit it if it was true? You can't say Dhoni is not being stubborn about Chawla Now we are getting into the area of negative speculation and there is no end to it.
