Funny, the IE 9 download process still insists that that 64-bit Windows users install the inferior 64-bit version and, they rather naturally, assume that they should run the 64-bit browser. That’s when they write to me, and I point them at the article I wrote telling them how to run 32-bit IE 9 on 64-bit Windows. You can say all you want that ‘normal’ users won’t try to run 64-bit IE, but they do, and they do it every day. The far better question that those who bleed Microsoft blue should be asking is: “Why is Microsoft deliberately insisting that their 64-bit users install a second-rate version of their own flagship Web browser?” Wouldn’t it make more sense to do what all the other Web browser developers do and make the 64-bit version an experimental, optional download? That way there would be no chance of any confusion and they could be sure that every IE 9 user would get the best possible experience. It seems pretty simple to me. Personally, I've never touched IE with a barge pole, and still won't. It's always been Firefox and Opera for me.

As you know 7 comes up with both 32 and 64 BIT built-in so It was extremely disappointing that only 64 BIT will get updated and obviously then no plug-ins, toolbars, ActivX control, Java etc will work but what actually happened after installation, it updated both of them :) so by default IE9 32 bit will remain in use to avoid any incompatibility issue and if you ever required to must use 64 BIT, you will have that too... I tried to find out any advantage we can have using 64 bit, its only the maximum utilization of hardware resources, nothing else expect few many disadvantages, 32 bit don’t support more than 3GB RAM for any OS, software or IE but I guess we hardly require less than even 1% of time to consume 3GB ram for browsing only. (By the way a Microsoft test drive to check each type of web compatibility in your browser IE 9, http://ie.microsoft.com/testdrive/)

But I also downloaded IE 9 32 bit version and I am highly impressed by it's speed. I have used Firefox and Opera with latest versions for years and I have to say that neither FF nor Opera even comes close to IE 9 in terms of speed. I have not used Firefox 4 though as I do not want to risk a beta version as I am very dependent on Firefox and its addons for a lot of my work. The most striking feature of IE 9 32 bit is that it loads almost in the split of a second whereas FF and Opera take a few seconds to load. On a side note, has anyone tried the new Comodo Dragon browser by Comodo. It is supposedly based on Chromium technology and is quite fast too like Google Chrome. As of now, I would say that perhaps IE 9 is the fastest amongst all browsers in the market right now including Chrome. It seems IE has made a strong comeback after it was labeled as the worst browser by regular internet users for the last 5 years at least. Microsoft would regain a lot of the browser market again after IE 9 it seems. Though regular web addicts and especially web developers would perhaps still continue FF especially for its invaluable addons.

After Vista turned out to be complete failure they brought out Windows 7 which has been a phenomenal success. The previous versions of its Mobile OS were absolutely crap but Windows Phone 7 is supposed to be The Best Mobile OS out there. In browsers IE was lagging behind for years and years and Chrome, FF etc had all overtaken it but IE9 is extremely good and probably the fastest browser around.

Windows 7 is also the most awesome OS IMO and there are hardly any flaws at all. The computer has never died or shown even blue screen for the last one year since I upgraded to Windows 7. I also upgraded to their Service Pack 1 a few days ago on my main computer and it was also smooth if not a bit faster. I have not used Windows Phone 7 as I am still a Symbian OS user still for my business phone but have heard good things about it too. IE 9 is currently the fastest OS for sure. One more thing. I have quite a few antivirus and anti-malware products including a few paid ones but I have to say that even the current free antivirus and security suite from Microsoft i.e. Microsoft Security Essentials is better than even many of the paid anti viruses out there. It almost detected every type of virus which most other antivirus do not detect easily. MSE is free yet perhaps the best antivirus out there. I used to use Comodo Firewall + Antivirus + Windows Firewall + Anti Malware and loads of other products but still got virus problems previously but after using MSE I have only used it (it is a lot faster too) with combination with the normal Windows Firewall and have never faced any virus problem. Microsoft is regaining the market in a huge manner and would probably soon recapture majority and lost market share in most sections in the market. Moreover, Microsoft is donating a lot of money for charity right now and so we also know that the money we spend on purchasing their products are used for some good cause too. Otherwise Indians used to go with pirated editions till a few years back. :giggle:

I have 64bit windows and I can use 32bit IE9, even windows wouldn't let you choose 64bit as default browser. Everyone is meant to use 32bit ie9.

IE9 was so much faster than FF even in mozilla tests, now they are not reporting anything of over 60 fps. FF used to be around 80-90 fps and ie9 was close to 300 but now you just see 60+ fps.

Go lite on the memory 2. Improve Security and maybe rival FF at it 3. Give the users better interface What do all of you think?
