Parth Posted March 19, 2011 Posted March 19, 2011 India v West Indies, Group B, World Cup, Chennai Sehwag doubtful for West Indies match Virender Sehwag might miss India's final group game against West Indies on Sunday because of a knee problem. Sehwag's knee has been bothering him since the start of the World Cup, but his current worry is the result of swelling caused by an allergic reaction to a pain-killing injection he took after the match against South Africa. "Viru [sehwag] has got an allergic reaction in his right knee, so we will take that call [about whether to play him] either in the evening or on the morning of the game," MS Dhoni said at the MA Chidambaram Stadium on Saturday. If Sehwag is unable to take the field, Gautam Gambhir will most likely open the innings with Sachin Tendulkar. The game doesn't have a lot riding on it as Bangladesh's defeat to South Africa today means India and England are already through to the quarter-finals and barring a catastrophic defeat, West Indies can afford to lose tomorrow's game and still join them on the basis of a better net run-rate than Bangladesh.

Midfielder Posted March 19, 2011 Posted March 19, 2011 Everything will be fine. Question is if Gambhir opens who is the batsman that needs to come in his place?
pinkfreud Posted March 19, 2011 Posted March 19, 2011 Everything will be fine. Question is if Gambhir opens who is the batsman that needs to come in his place? If that happens then Dhoni may move higher up and Raina may come in.
Karan114 Posted March 19, 2011 Posted March 19, 2011 Everything will be fine. Question is if Gambhir opens who is the batsman that needs to come in his place? Well, Raina will replace him, though from the reports it sounded like Raina was going to play anyways. Gambhir SRT Kohli Yuvraj Dhoni Raina Pathan
jpkonline Posted March 19, 2011 Posted March 19, 2011 his injury is not serious they are resting him to bring in raina just as i thought
akshayxyz Posted March 19, 2011 Posted March 19, 2011 Better rest Sehwag, or even Sachin. We need them for Knockouts. Raina should get a chance anyway.
Switchblade Posted March 19, 2011 Posted March 19, 2011 Sehwag uncertain for match against West Indies http://uk.eurosport.yahoo.com/19032011/2/cricket-sehwag-uncertain-match-against-west-indies.html Opener Virender Sehwag is doubtful for Sunday's World Cup Group B match against West Indies after he suffered an allergic reaction in his right knee, India skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni said on Saturday. "Viru has got an allergic reaction in his right knee. So we will take a call either in the evening or by the morning, just before the game," Dhoni told reporters. The Indian captain, however, did not reveal any contingency plans should Sehwag sit out. "You have to wait until tomorrow for the playing XI." Sehwag had earlier been hit on the rib during a net session last month and rushed to Delhi to consult his personal physician before joining the squad.
