How come we always play on a "good pitch"?

Every time we see that the pitches on a ground takes turn and is spin friendly and when it's our turn to play on that very ground the pitch suddenly becomes a "good pitch". Bangalore was one example and Chennai is turning out to be the same thing! We have seen likes of Tredwell, Swann, Bishoo etc. make merry in Chennai and when we get a game it becomes a "good pitch" and "much better pitch than the other matches played on this ground"! Who is responsible for deciding which pitch do we play the match on and where's the home advantage? How do the groundsmen/curator/state associations get into their thick brains that India's strength is spin and we need turning tracks. We can't compete on a flat or bouncy pitches as we don't have even a half-decent bowling attack.

I was going to open a thread on this .. its utter rubbish to not have any home advantage. The curator in Chennai for some reason kept the wicket under shade so that it retains moisture. Sounds like a great idea when you have Harbhajan/Ashwin/Raina/Yusuf/Yuvraj bowling in the game :wall:

for the last time-the icc supervises the pitches.they always want better pitches for marquee matches.Expect pattas for the knockouts.
ICC supervises the pitch but it's still the groundsman/curator who prepares the pitch else we wouldn't have seen the pitch used for Eng-WI game. Curators still can do certain things like shaving off the grass and not watering the pitch a few days before the game to make the pitch a bit dry and ensure it turns.

Why is it unsporting? Do we get spin friendly tracks in SA or Aus? World cup is held in India and we should get the home advantage.
This is the World cup NOt The India Cup yah? Why should we dictate the pitches? So by your reasoning we should be so scared of the ozzies that we should prepare pancake pitches to combat their pace attack yah?

Did you watch the Ind-SA game in T20 world cup where a green and seaming pitch was prepared? In fact it was so bowler friendly that we struggled to 140 odd and SA were all out for 116 with RP Singh and Sreesanth doing the damage :hysterical: Every country prepares tracks suited to their strengths. I mean in the current world cup look at B'desh pitches where spinners come on from the start and Lanka where the pitch turns so much that winning the toss is crucial. And we are not asking for a crumbling pitch but a pitch which aids spin - surely it's not too much to ask considering we are the host nation?

We have a competent batting side, if zaheer gets ample support we can beat anyone on any pitch, patel needs to step up to the plates.

World cup comes every 4 years and we need to make the most of it. Just wait till the next world cup to be held in Aus-NZ and you will see the kind of pitches Aussies prepare for us.
