nsareen Posted March 21, 2011 Posted March 21, 2011 did anyone notice, his speeds have been equal to steyn's if not more, he was someone who is a regular 140 guy with occasionally touching 145, but in this world cup, he goes till 149KMPH like a walk in a park. How come he has gained on his speed, he looks quicker than shoaib at the moment. To add to his speed he has swing and bounce going for him, Lethal Lethal combination, what's got into him?

nsareen Posted March 21, 2011 Author Posted March 21, 2011 Cant help but think you are wanting someone to say that Gul is juiced.... well with Pakistan you never know, but somehow i like this guy "gul", he is a no nonsense kinda bowler, who doesnt boast of his bowling like a shoaib, waqar , comes in gives his all, so i don't think there would be any wrongdoing, even though it is surprising to see him put in those extra yards. with age people slow down, this guy is cranking it up.

He is not flamboyant, but keeps a low profile and works hard at his fitness which is obvious from seeing him bowl. He is disciplined and has good attitude too, IMO best seamer in the world cup now ahead of Lee.
HowardRoark Posted March 21, 2011 Posted March 21, 2011 If you look at Umar Gul, the first thing that strikes is his athletic fitness. He has only lean muscles without any visible fat and that could be very helpful in increasing speed.

Umar Gul's batting technique and sensible play in the New Zealand match did appear far better than the usual sloggers in the Pakistan team. Barring Misbah and YK, there arent any proper test batsman in the side. Asad Shafiq also looks like he will make a good future batsman. And yes UV is in the team for his bowling as much as for his batting. Maybe more for his bowling considering his recent form with the bat.
