ViruRulez Posted March 25, 2011 Posted March 25, 2011 Meh always bat first in pressure matches' date=' especially against a mediocre Paki batting line up.[/quote'] +++ That is a no-brainer. We have everything to lose by bowling first. Bowling first might be a huge risk and they would be able to bat freely whereas we will be under pressure against a somewhat formidable bowling lineup. Batting first will help us in playing freely and posting a huge score. Then Zak and co. can choke their brittle batting lineup when they bat second.
NareshK Posted March 25, 2011 Posted March 25, 2011 SA are chokers. They will choke regardless. Remember the game in Mohali where pak chased down 320..thanks to dew, extras and YK. I think its safer for India to chase against Pak in Mohali. We havent deafeated Pak in Mohali if I am not mistaken. Being the World Cup and the Semi Final makes a huge difference. Any team will panic under pressure when chasing. But if India have to bat second, they can take heart from the fact they have already chased against Australia successfully and are mentally prepared for the occasion.
hari504504 Posted March 25, 2011 Posted March 25, 2011 Bat first and try to get a total of 330 or so hope there will be no dew carry a towel like the 96 lankans..
Lord Posted March 25, 2011 Posted March 25, 2011 India chased it because it was a chaseable total n RRR never went above 7,if it was 280 it was all over
Ranjha Posted March 25, 2011 Author Posted March 25, 2011 If Pak bat first, they wont score more than 220-250. should be easy for India to chase it down
Sachin=GOD Posted March 25, 2011 Posted March 25, 2011 If we bat first - we win ; if we bowl first - we win.
Lord Posted March 25, 2011 Posted March 25, 2011 If Pak bat first, they wont score more than 220-250. should be easy for India to chase it down lol with this bowling line-up?Mohali is a flat deck, would made 270+easily
Ranjha Posted March 25, 2011 Author Posted March 25, 2011 lol with this bowling line-up?Mohali is a flat deck' date='would made 270+easily[/quote'] are you sure mohali is a complete flat deck this time? can you confirm it?
ViruRulez Posted March 25, 2011 Posted March 25, 2011 India chased it because it was a chaseable total n RRR never went above 7' date='if it was 280 it was all over[/quote'] Agree completely. And I can say one thing almost for sure. Pakis are mostly sloggers and they know that to compete with India they have to post a huge score as India can chase nearly any total. So, they would probably target a huge 300ish total or so if they bat first. The most likely chance is that they will slog and choke and end up under 200 as they usually do. :giggle: But then if they have an off day (I mean lucky day) then they might click huge and post a 300ish total. Then it would be difficult to chase that under lights with a good enough bowling lineup who knows subcontinental conditions quite well. So, in case we win the toss it would be a risk to put them to bat. We should bat first without second thoughts if we bat first. But we should go with an open mind to chase too if needed.
Lord Posted March 25, 2011 Posted March 25, 2011 are you sure mohali is a complete flat deck this time? can you confirm it? yeah it is.bit of carry with new ball, but thats it.gonna be high scoring affair
Ranjha Posted March 25, 2011 Author Posted March 25, 2011 yeah it is.bit of carry with new ball' date='but thats it.gonna be high scoring affair[/quote'] you got any link to confirm it? or you assuming it? I really hope the wicket got something for the bowlers. Mohali pitch also usually have some grass, no?

Ranjha Posted March 25, 2011 Author Posted March 25, 2011 ofcourse.n batting first' date='bat normally n target 270.it'll be enough for them,if we get partnerships we can get more[/quote'] I dont think 270 will be enough for them.

Ranjha Posted March 25, 2011 Author Posted March 25, 2011 sorry' date='I'm just going by the games I watched here:--D.no grass.looks pretty flat[/quote'] It would depend on what the curators do for the next 5 days or so.
Lord Posted March 25, 2011 Posted March 25, 2011 I dont think 270 will be enough for them. they'll crak under pressure chasing, not a great batting line-up.just YK n U.Akmal are dangerous
ViruRulez Posted March 25, 2011 Posted March 25, 2011 lol with this bowling line-up?Mohali is a flat deck' date='would made 270+easily[/quote'] BTW I am still not sure which would be better for us. I mean if we prepare a turning track then we have spinners and they also do not lack spinners. Their spinners might be better than us to be frank though we play spin a lot better than them. And if we create a flat track aka. road :haha: then we can post a gigantic total of 350+ if needed and their bowlers would be ineffective. But then we do not have any great bowlers for flat tracks too and so their fragile batting lineup might not get out that easily compared to normal times. But the chances are still more with a flat track IMO as we can post a lot more massive total compared to them and that would also negate the difference of bowling quality especially the second seamer. I would say create extremely flat roads where their seamers would be completely ineffective and they would not have any bowling advantage. Then it will be our batting vs their batting and that is almost a no-match to be frank. :giggle: Bloody get even YP in the team and fill the team with batsman and leave out Munaf as he would be almost completely ineffective on flat roads.
Ranjha Posted March 25, 2011 Author Posted March 25, 2011 they'll crak under pressure chasing' date='not a great batting line-up.just YK n U.Akmal are dangerous[/quote'] No, Pakistan lifts their game against India. They may well chase it. I say on a flat deck, 325+ On a deteriorating spinning track 260+ on a fast pitch with good carry and bounce: 275
Lord Posted March 25, 2011 Posted March 25, 2011 It would depend on what the curators do for the next 5 days or so. yeah, but I guess it'll remain flat.Pak have good bowling lin-up.only way to neutralise that is flat deck.grass will suit Gul,Akhtar, n turning pitch will suit Afridi/Ajmal
Ranjha Posted March 25, 2011 Author Posted March 25, 2011 yeah' date='but I guess it'll remain flat.Pak have good bowling lin-up.only way to neutralise that is flat deck.grass will suit Gul,Akhtar, n turning pitch will suit Afridi/Ajmal[/quote'] if its a flat deck, we are killign our advantage of having better batsmen cuz then even they can score big.
