Was that what got common people hooked on the outcome and score. We play Pakistan once in an eternity, and even then the matches played are hardly top notch. From a cricket fan's point of view, is playing Pakistan any fun? On the contrary, playing South Africa and Australia is so much more interesting - our players are tested to the max against them (minus the masala of a Ind-Pak encounter though) Ind-Pak encounters are more pressure games, not ability ones.

Karan114 Posted March 30, 2011 Posted March 30, 2011 Cricketing wise, no comparison. Aus and SA are top sides and seeing Tendulkar take on Steyn in a Test match is as good as cricket can get. Pak aren't a good team though they do lift in big tourneys. But the pure thrill of beating Pakistan is something else entirely

vvvslaxman Posted March 30, 2011 Posted March 30, 2011 Today nerves definitely kicked in. It was as bad as Miandad's batting in 1996 world cup. But pitch was somewhat responsible. I thought they were going to go with a flat pitch. This one surprisingly had some assistance for all bowlers.

With Anwar, Aamir, Inzamam, Akram, Ijaz, YoYo, always worried me, I always thought they were favorites whenever we played. But now tide has turned. Our team is far superior. Ofcourse if there is 5 ODI series, India will win the series easily with game to spare and lose the dead rubber while experimenting.

youngindia Posted March 30, 2011 Posted March 30, 2011 Australia and SA play a suffocating type of cricket that tests you with tight bowling, fielding and batting. so certainly i like comeptition against them. pakistan has so many holes and some kamikaze batting with one or two genuine talents. i cherish the victory against australia in the QF becuase they are so difficult to chase ona wicket taking turn and with dangerous pace bowlers around! we beat them at their strongest dept. i hold the approach of people like jaswant singh who says "beating pakistan is better than wc" in total disdain.

Maybe even to raise money for the Japan situation. All 3 Twenty20 that these teams have played (including the warm-up in '09) were electifying affairs.

For a cricket fan, close contests with the team being stretched to the max is a delight to watch. But the common people would take victory over Pakistan any day because of the traditional political rivlary between the two nations. I didnt see the kind of celebrations for the QF win that I saw for yesterday's victory.

Riots happened in a lot of places and cant be attributed to a single side alone. Better to move on from the rivalry with Pakistan and set our sights higher. Today China, tomorrow the US.

Especially in Mumbai , people were celebrating all over the roads with crackers bursting all over , seemed like a Mini-Diwali . There was a huge roar everytime a Pakistani wicket fell , for instance even when Afridi was almost caught by Nehra people started cheering , whistling , bursting crackers only to realize later on that the catch wasnt clean .

Though officially the govts in SE asia have normalsied relations, a lot of chinese are sensitive and have dislike towards japanese even today.because past memories have been passed down. In yugoslavia's, despite the communist govts attempts to mask the atrocities in the 2nd world war in which yugoslavs killed each other (like ustashe against serbs and chetniks against croats and muslims), people still retained those memories and this led to hatred and civil war. In case of subcontinent, the govts still have hostile relations,have fought 4 wars.even if the govt relations were nortmal,tensions over past atrocities will be still there. because public emmories won't die away just like that.
