cowboysfan Posted March 31, 2011 Posted March 31, 2011 But how does he field then? If he wants to bowl a 5 over spell, you cant him on and off the field every alternate over... Nehra fielding with two hands is funny... With one, i shudder to think... its the WC final ,pain can be managed easily.Just because he has a broken finger doesnt mean he cant field.I have seen athletes play with broken foot and torn ligaments and tendons in important games.

If you are talking about the NFL, its a completely different beast. Its not even a valid comparison... Small ex: Justin Morneau. Missed a huge chunk of last season, reason: Concussion. Playing with a broken middle finger, especially fielding will be very tricky... Not something that Nehra will not able to do. But imagine if a catch comes his way at a fast pace, with the game on the line, how ready will he be to go full fledged at it? Basic instinct will kick in... Again, just saying that its a possibility... I'd say play Ashwin instead...

There is a big difference between 'broken finger' and 'injured finger'.
ZodiaC Posted March 31, 2011 Posted March 31, 2011 Blessing in disguise imo. Wishing a speedy recovery for Ashish, has been a good comeback.
Lord Posted April 1, 2011 Posted April 1, 2011 Since the injury was on his non-bowling hand, Nehra was able to get through three more overs in the match. However, there are worries he will not be able to field. they are worried about his fielding?:hmmmm2: I cant believe a left arm bowler will miss a WC final due to injury to his right hand finger.since its Nehra its even more unbelievable.I've stories of him playing through pain.Ganguly was telling the other day how Ashish had a severe foot injury in 2003 WC before game against England n he played through it as he wanted to play at any cost.hes certainly not a softie.would wanna play at any cost.just as desperat as Murali. It seems an excuse to drop him.something's fishy.if its really that, then its major blunder coz Ashwin will be carted around just like they did to Swann n McCullum.they just have to look at NZ-SL S/F.they carted around McCullum.Vettori brought a left armer late n he still caused a flutter.if they had opened with him,he might have won it for NZ.
