flamy Posted April 1, 2011 Posted April 1, 2011 dude' date=' if you think vegetarians long for meat to make up for lack of taste or variety in their food, you are delusional. :winky:[/quote'] say that to the freezer at whole foods overflowing with "Chikn Nuggets", "Meetbaals" and all that other soy-meat :((
Bublu Bhuyan Posted April 1, 2011 Author Posted April 1, 2011 This is interesting. A naan vez boy telling a bunch of vegetarians to consider giving up meat. So you dont have a conscience? Did I say that I haven't thought about going the veggy way? For the first time in my life I'm thinking hard about it. And I truly believe I'll quit non-veg food someday soon.
f.b.m Posted April 1, 2011 Posted April 1, 2011 This is where you lose your track. Meat eaters create a market for meat yes' date=' not for animal brutality. No meat eater goes to the store and says ‘Can I have 2 kgs of a brutally massacred lamb that had a horrific death?’. You cannot blame the meat eater for a crime perpetrated by the butcher/meat shops. I cannot be held responsible for something I don’t control. I consume lots of petrol on a daily basis. Who knows where that comes from.. Maybe many native communities were forced to move out to dig that oil field. Does that mean I stop consuming oil from a sense of guilt? Of course not! I am not responsible for the business practices of the oil companies.[/quote'] They try to cut costs by cramming all the animals in little cages. You by the cheapest option. You are aware that the lamb has a good chance of being brutally massacred and all the rest of it. Let me make it a bit more extreme: Would you by clothes at half price if you knew that they were made using slave labour forced to work under gunpoint? My point is that refusing to buy certain products is a perfectly good statement of ethical intent and in my opinion, more effective than any government regulation would be.
Bublu Bhuyan Posted April 1, 2011 Author Posted April 1, 2011 If there was an award for the most comical moral dilemma in the history of humanity, I think it has to go to this.. :hysterical: How can you possibly type these two lines, within 3 minutes of each other! :hysterical: Yes, I have been fond of it so far. Simply because I have been raised in a family that loves non-veg. I wish I were raised a vegetarian. But I'm seriously contemplating going the veggy way soon. I really mean it. Over the years I have seen many sick videos, but this one has really made me think.

I'm so fond of non-veg food' date=' it's hard to stay away from them.[/quote']

The businesses are there to maximize profit and reduce costs. If there are only 10 people in this world who are eating meat, that still wouldn’t stop the meat-shops from doing whatever it takes, to cut costs and increase profit, i.e, brutally treat the animals. You’re confusing a culture issue to a supply-demand issue. The western countries consume more meat than say the Indian population, but their treatment of animals is significantly better than ours. Meat eaters DON’T cause animal brutality, brutal meat-shops do.
ganeshran Posted April 1, 2011 Posted April 1, 2011 Everything I say is not gospel truth. I do sometimes write trash just to kill boredom. Dont take everything I write so seriously. You were pontificating to non vegetarians. If you were not being serious, you sure didn't show it in your post.
vaibhav_delhi Posted April 1, 2011 Posted April 1, 2011 Very immature post. are vegetarian crops not a form of life and do you not end it when you cook them? Or is humanism only reserved for the forms of life that move and make sounds? although plants have life, they do not feel pain or feel very less pain: http://www.associatedcontent.com/article/1408037/do_plants_feel_pain_an_animal_rights.html Did I say that I haven't thought about going the veggy way? For the first time in my life I'm thinking hard about it. And I truly believe I'll quit non-veg food someday soon. good stuff bro. I was raised as a non-veggie and could leave it without much effort, so you could also do that easily...

If you kill a patient of congenital analgesia who cannot feel physical pain, is that not unethical?
akshayxyz Posted April 1, 2011 Posted April 1, 2011 This is where you lose your track. Meat eaters create a market for meat yes' date=' not for animal brutality. I am not responsible for the business practices of the oil companies. Very strong points there. Being vegetarian also does not guarantee non-violence against animals, or even humans. E.g. No guarantees about how farmers/dairies treat their cattle !!! Chemicals or various tortures that Cows might have to go through for 'extra' milk!!! So many rats/rodents killed brutally to keep the grains safe!!! How top-level-businessmen treat the poor farmers to get extra profit from them, ever heard of farmer suicide stories!!! How much 'every 2 rupee bargain you do on fruits/veggies' directly/in-directly translates to poor farmers' misery!!! The list can be as long as and as sad as it is for non-vegetarian food chain.
akshayxyz Posted April 1, 2011 Posted April 1, 2011 To add to that: blood diamonds :hatsoff::hatsoff: thats not even a single cell organism or even a virus ...!
Aaku Posted April 1, 2011 Posted April 1, 2011 So you are not committing wrong if you kill someone/something that doesnt feel pain? If you kill a patient of congenital analgesia who cannot feel physical pain, is that not unethical? Gannooo now i like you
akshayxyz Posted April 1, 2011 Posted April 1, 2011 More... what about the medicines - as simple as a aspirin.. can you imagine how many animals were tortured before it was certified for you to be 'safely' consumed!
akshayxyz Posted April 1, 2011 Posted April 1, 2011 Verdict - associating non vegetarianism to animal brutality is as hypocritical as it gets.
DomainK Posted April 1, 2011 Posted April 1, 2011 What about the plants that vegetarians consume? They don't have life or they do not count?:dontknow: It's the law of nature: life form consumes life form to survive. What about the farmers who sprinkle pesticide to save the corps? The die horrible death, do they deserve this cruelty? Remember the last time you paid for pest control in your house? Yes, you paid your hard earned money to kill innocent little pests. Their life does not count? Or they don't feel pain? Remember the last time you slapped a mosquito when it bit you? What about the worms you step over and never even come to know? How about the hundreds of mosquitoes that die when you switch on your mosquito repellent?

How about the hundreds of mosquitoes that die when you switch on your mosquito repellent? They are known as pests for a reason. They cause human beings trouble. There's no alternative. But what about those poor animals? Do they cause us any trouble? Is meat the only thing that we can eat for survival? Can't we survive without it? As regards to law of nature, yes, carnivorous animals were made to consume meat. Do you think a lion would be able to survive on plants? They can't. That's the difference between them and us. We can easily survive without meat, but we choose not to simply because we love it. This despite the fact that abstaining from consuming meat would ensure that those poor animals don't suffer that horrible brutality which they do. Dude, just watch the video once and tell me is there nothing wrong?
Bublu Bhuyan Posted April 1, 2011 Author Posted April 1, 2011 Verdict - associating non vegetarianism to animal brutality is as hypocritical as it gets. No it's not. Why exactly those animals live a horrible life and are slaughtered mercilessly? Just because of us non-vegetarians. Why is it hypocritical?
