Bublu Bhuyan Posted April 1, 2011 Author Posted April 1, 2011 good stuff bro. I was raised as a non-veggie and could leave it without much effort' date=' so you could also do that easily...[/quote'] Even if it takes effort, it's worth it. I'll definitely go the veggy way.
ganeshran Posted April 1, 2011 Posted April 1, 2011 No it's not. Why exactly those animals live a horrible life and are slaughtered mercilessly? Just because of us non-vegetarians. Why is it hypocritical? Are you not ending the life of a plant when you eat vegetarian food? Do you not kill a snake or bufallo when you wear a leather belt. Do you not deny a hungry calf its milk when you drink your morning tea. Do you not destroy a bees home when you drink honey?
Bublu Bhuyan Posted April 1, 2011 Author Posted April 1, 2011 Are you not ending the life of a plant when you eat vegetarian food? Do you not kill a snake or bufallo when you wear a leather belt. Does the plant die? No, a fruit or vegetable from it is removed. Do they feel pain when we do it? Your reasoning about use of leather is perfect though. Do you not deny a hungry calf its milk when you drink your morning tea. Does the calf die or suffer any brutality? Do you not destroy a bees home when you drink honey? Do we kill them? Do they suffer any brutality?
flamy Posted April 1, 2011 Posted April 1, 2011 :hatsoff::hatsoff: thats not even a single cell organism or even a virus ...! huh, do you know what conflict diamonds are? :WTF:
ganeshran Posted April 1, 2011 Posted April 1, 2011 Does the plant die? No, a fruit or vegetable from it is removed. Do they feel pain when we do it? Your reasoning about use of leather is perfect though. Does the calf die or suffer any brutality? Do we kill them? Do they suffer any brutality? Two questions: 1.) Is killing the only form of brutality you can inflict on any other creature? What about lesser ones that I mentioned? 2.) If feeling pain the only indicator of cruelty? What about human victims of congenital analgesia who cannot feel any pain? Are we allowed to kill them?
akshayxyz Posted April 1, 2011 Posted April 1, 2011 They are known as pests for a reason. They cause human beings trouble. There's no alternative. But what about those poor animals? Do they cause us any trouble? Is meat the only thing that we can eat for survival? Can't we survive without it? As regards to law of nature, yes, carnivorous animals were made to consume meat. Do you think a lion would be able to survive on plants? They can't. That's the difference between them and us. We can easily survive without meat, but we choose not to simply because we love it. This despite the fact that abstaining from consuming meat would ensure that those poor animals don't suffer that horrible brutality which they do. Dude, just watch the video once and tell me is there nothing wrong? That is another example of being hypocrite. What makes you think that human beings are 'highest' form of life? What makes you think that anything that 'trouble's human beings does not deserve a peaceful life? What about my comment on - are you going to stop taking medicines because 'the process of safe medicines reaching you' involves torturing animals, may be even worse torture than simple slaughtering. What about 'torturing farmers' for that 'extra' discount you demand on vegetarian products??
akshayxyz Posted April 1, 2011 Posted April 1, 2011 No it's not. Why exactly those animals live a horrible life and are slaughtered mercilessly? Just because of us non-vegetarians. Why is it hypocritical? As I said there are many more reasons for which animals are being tortured to death mercilessly and many/most of them are not directly related to being non-vegetarian. As I said earlier - being vegetarian does not guarantee that some animal down in the chain is not being tortured to death. If that is not being hypocrite what else is?
akshayxyz Posted April 1, 2011 Posted April 1, 2011 huh' date=' do you know what conflict diamonds are? :WTF:[/quote'] Lol - don't you get it (sarcasm) - I am supporting you there by saying diamonds are not even virus and yet human beings are getting tortured to meet the demand of 'blood diamonds' . Read my further posts. P.S. "Blood Diamond" is one of my all time favorite movie.

Your reasoning about use of leather is perfect though. Does the calf die or suffer any brutality? Do we kill them? Do they suffer any brutality? Few choices for you: a) I will skin/amputate you/another-human for some personal pleasure benefit of mine. But you are guaranteed a death in 4 hours. b) I will keep you/another-human captive ala Sanjay-Dutt is held in Zinda - for some personal pleasure/gain of mine. But you are guaranteed to be alive after 15-20 years. c) Heard of "Water Boarding" - please please google that. I want to do that to you/some-human for personal pleasure/gain of mine. You are guaranteed to be alive after couple of weeks or so. Take your pick.
f.b.m Posted April 1, 2011 Posted April 1, 2011 The businesses are there to maximize profit and reduce costs. If there are only 10 people in this world who are eating meat, that still wouldn’t stop the meat-shops from doing whatever it takes, to cut costs and increase profit, i.e, brutally treat the animals. You’re confusing a culture issue to a supply-demand issue. The western countries consume more meat than say the Indian population, but their treatment of animals is significantly better than ours. Meat eaters DON’T cause animal brutality, brutal meat-shops do. If only 10 people ate meat, the number of animals living through the brutality would go down by 99.9999..%. Thats progress. Also, most of these peta videos deal with western countries. And I'd like an answer to my previous question: Would you boycott something if you know that slave labour was involved or just say that its the slave owner's fault?

Bublu Bhuyan Posted April 1, 2011 Author Posted April 1, 2011 Better not to argue with people who simply refuse to see the point.
punjabi_khota Posted April 1, 2011 Posted April 1, 2011 Better not to argue with people who simply refuse to see the point. Still awaiting my answer on "What would Jesus do " :hysterical:
ganeshran Posted April 1, 2011 Posted April 1, 2011 Better not to argue with people who simply refuse to see the point. You are making a flawed argument and failing to see the hypocricy of what you say. You are criticising humans for something that is prevalent throughout nature. Non-veggies dont kill animals for sadistic pleasure. They consume animals as food, just like many other species do. Veggies also kill living cells (the basic unit of life) when they cook food, and just because plant life doesnt feel pain, does that make it alright to end it? Or are your sympathies limited to only those forms of life which move and visibly display signs of pain. Its absolutely ok for veggies to be veggies and non veggies to be non veggies, because of personal choice. But it irks me when personal choice is disguised as altruism and used as an excuse to lecture others how their actions are causing untold suffering.
akshayxyz Posted April 1, 2011 Posted April 1, 2011 Better not to argue with people who simply refuse to see the point. Are you even attempting to see the other side of point?? Here is one more chance: First of all - - define animals. - define brutality. Once we agree on these then we can take it further from there.
