coffee_rules Posted April 2, 2011 Posted April 2, 2011 Choosing to bat first against BD did us in. Dhoni's two zeros - one against BD and one against SL was very helpful as well.
vvvslaxman Posted April 2, 2011 Posted April 2, 2011 It is amazing.. you have a team that had Viru and TEndulkar. Neither of them opened :cantstop:. Ganguly and Uthappa !!
vvvslaxman Posted April 2, 2011 Posted April 2, 2011 Choosing to bat first against BD did us in. Dhoni's two zeros - one against BD and one against SL was very helpful as well. That was the right option if you ask me. Unfamiliarity and also when you looked at that side they were more like high school students. Frankly i thought we were going to crush them. But i had no idea about any of their players. Little bit of knowledge about them could have avoided embarrassment.
vvvslaxman Posted April 2, 2011 Posted April 2, 2011 REVENGE for EDEN GARDENS 1996 That we already had at Taunton.. Ranatunga in the post match ceremony "That was the most pathetic bowling i have ever seen" :hysterical::hysterical::hysterical:
CG Posted April 2, 2011 Author Posted April 2, 2011 REVENGE for EDEN GARDENS 1996 in this team only tendulkar played that match.
Ranjha Posted April 2, 2011 Posted April 2, 2011 That we already had at Taunton.. Ranatunga in the post match ceremony "That was the most pathetic bowling i have ever seen" :hysterical::hysterical::hysterical: Nope. Revenge happens when you knock out a team preferabbly in knock out stages. Eden Gardens revenge can only be taken by knocking out Srilanka in a final tommorow.
Ranjha Posted April 2, 2011 Posted April 2, 2011 in this team only tendulkar played that match. Yea but revenge for a nation..not necessarily by the same group of people.
vvvslaxman Posted April 2, 2011 Posted April 2, 2011 We already knocked them out in quarter finals in 2003 world cup. We got over it long back. To be honest we don't really have any score to settle against them.

vvvslaxman Posted April 2, 2011 Posted April 2, 2011 There was no quarter finals in 2003. But loss against us eliminated them i reckon.

Ranjha Posted April 2, 2011 Posted April 2, 2011 But loss against us eliminated them i reckon. Edited (after reading LAVAN's post): Srilanka made it to the semifinals of 2003 worldcup.
vvvslaxman Posted April 2, 2011 Posted April 2, 2011 I still think about Eden Garden. Kambli crying. India should have won. It was entirely fault of Azhar for misreading the pitch. Even part timers looked deadly in the second half. I was more pissed off at our team. Kambli was useless in that world cup. I was mad at that guy too. Only Tendulkar was playing so well.

We had them down 2 wickets for 1 and 3 for 35 if I am not wrong..Their midde order won them the game.

coffee_rules Posted April 2, 2011 Posted April 2, 2011 Big matches, bat first..2003 final. we learnt our mistake..2007 batted first against BD and still lost. 2007 was a disaster. I think this format helped India quite a lot
