Sid Posted April 9, 2011 Posted April 9, 2011 Suddenly this world cup win has made Dhoni look like a superman and Youngsters as X-Men. Lets have a reality check: MOS -> Yuvraj Singh TOP batsmen -> Sachin,Gambhir, Sehwag, Yuvraj. Top Bowlers -> ZK, Yuvi, Patel, Bhajji. MSD age ->29. Also - people are underestimating the value of hardcore soft forces "inpiration", "Motivation" - which are more important than cricketing skills to bring about best in you. How many people said (or meant) - We want to win the Cup for Dhoni?, Or how many players said - Dhoni inspired us to win the cup for Sachin? Couple of talks about Sachin, Yuvi, Gambhir, Kirsten and then back to - dhoni, dhoni, dhoni, youngistan, youngistan, youngistan.... Dhoni did great with captaincy - but all this talk about youngistan & "Dhoni best ever to walk the earth" is ....crap. He is being talked about becoz he is the captain,he gets the praise when team wins and he would have been the single person getting the flak if we were on the losing side.
akshayxyz Posted April 9, 2011 Posted April 9, 2011 He is being talked about becoz he is the captain' date='he gets the praise when team wins and he would have been the single person getting the flak if we were on the losing side.[/quote'] true - I reckon its same set of people - "thaali ke baingan".
jpkonline Posted April 9, 2011 Author Posted April 9, 2011 Yuvi made his debut in 2000' date=' Gambhir in 2003. Dhoni was the Kaptaan. Yes all were youngsters, Too many visits on Green Phorum this days?[/quote'] gambhir might have made his debut but was he given a chance to play ? he just played 20-30 games from 2003-2007 it was dhoni who backed him and give him more chances. even ysuf pathan has come under captaincy of dhoni can we say he was grooming under dhoni ?? how can players do well without having proper backing from his captain

To Your Logic a 30 year Old making his Debut would be an Youngster.

I still don't think that Dhoni has been a visionary in terms of spotting and grooming talent.he has time on his hands, let us see how he would go about it.so far his picks apart from Ashwin have been duds.
vaibhav_delhi Posted April 9, 2011 Posted April 9, 2011 abe ab to samajh jao...kitna kuch jita diya in such a short span of time, sirf 3.5 years of captaincy as yet... although there's no proof of this, but I feel that if we had a dhoni from 1996 to 2005, we would have been world beaters with the same set of players that we had back then(kumble, srinath, dravid etc)....
