vvvslaxman Posted April 3, 2011 Posted April 3, 2011 I borrowed this dashers thingy from Hindu news paper. I can still recall as a little kid how i was almost feeling a fever when India took the last wicket. It was an amazing moment. Before this final,, i thought.. it is very hard for 2011 win would eclipse 1983 win. I have to say seeing the way Dhoni played with determination and Tendulkar's expression this one eventually eclipsed my greatest moment as an Indian fan. This ought to be the greatest cricketing moment in my life.
DomainK Posted April 3, 2011 Posted April 3, 2011 I don't have any recollection whatsoever of the 83 world cup win. Everything I know is from videos I watched years later, which are of course of an inferior quality.
vvvslaxman Posted April 3, 2011 Author Posted April 3, 2011 Yea.. even with lack of video coverage... 1983 win gripped entire India. Infact that was something that inspired many youngsters.
nikred Posted April 3, 2011 Posted April 3, 2011 I was only a year old when India won in '83. According to my dad I did watch the winning moments and he flung me in the air after the last wicket was taken. So I watched the winning moments mid-air. Coming to think of it, I watched most of the winning moments of 2011 in mid-air too.:icflove:

vvvslaxman Posted April 3, 2011 Author Posted April 3, 2011 I didn't know that the '83 CWC was telecast live in India :hmmm: Yea it was. probably that was the first match to be telecast. But i listened to radio commentary. It was just as enthralling.

I remember my dad talking about a test match played in Delhi (or was it Mumbai), television did not come to Hyderabad then. He was in that city and he said that was the first time he saw a cricket match live on TV. So '83 WC can't be the first time, I will ask him and get back to you. :P
