Cricket Tragic Posted April 3, 2011 Posted April 3, 2011 The WC finished last night and we have the circus starting in 5 days. That finishes on the 28th of May and the WI tour starts on 5th June. The WI tour finishes on 10th July. No time to return home since the tour of England begins on the 15th of July and finishes in September. :facepalm: Crazy schedule. Maybe we should show this to the England team who were complaining about being tired after 1 bloody tour. :hysterical:

Not looking good for England tour[/quote'] Yeah...this is why MSD even in the immediate aftermath of the WC win yesterday was talking about the need to try out new players and build an extended squad for all formats...the main guys need to be rested from at least meaningless ODIs and T20Is.

This time due to the very busy international schedule the IPL may seriously affect the performance of the players and may result in unnecessary fatigue for the players. No need for this.

We got the Cup That Matters :icflove: People will be savouring this victory to even bother about the IPL like they did in previous editions. The schedules are just barbaric. Our guys are not robots.. and then when they fail to perform, people start stoning them with their barbs and fairweather advice. It's crappy to say the least.

No Yuvraj, please. We need to look ahead. The reserve opener will (unfortunately) be Vijay. I'd pick Rahane or Mukund.

Select a young team for the WI ODIs, make GG the captain, rest MSD, SRT, Zak and Bhajji for the ODIs. WI tests starts from 20th June. So that would mean these players will not have to go through the grind of the full tour and will get a rest of about 2 weeks post IPL.

Definitely agree on trying out Rahane instead of Vijay but doubt it'll happen I agree really, do think MV is a bit of an FTB. But he probably deserves a chance at least in WI to open and show us what he can or not do...Im not sure about Rahane being a long term test opener, I know he does so for Mumbai and even scored a ton for BP XI vs Aussies opening, but...he is more of a no 3/ top order batsman isnt he...? Might be Mukund who is the back up backup opener .. Going forward I suggest the following squads: Tests: Gambhir, Vijay, Laxman, Tendulkar, Sehwag, Pujara, MSD, Harbhajan, Zaheer, SreeSanth, Munaf Mithun/Praveen, Ojha, Kohli, Mukund/Rahane, Saha I am not sure Sehwag should be opening so lets play him at 5... As he grows into his 30's the hand/eye coordination will decline and hence his ability to play the moving ball. Do hope Unadkat and Umesh dont feature in a test squad any time soon... Mithun should have toured SA, but did not have a great last season. So its more than likely that Pankaj will feature in a squad in the summer, given Ishants poor form...the other possibility is Praveen..how good a test bowler can he be? Particularly in Eng...i think its worth considering...not sure what Tyagi's fitness is like but he seems rather fragile ODIs: Rahane, Gambhir, Kohli, Yuvraj, Dhoni, Raina, Yosuf/Irfan (depending on IPL/domestic form) Harbhajan, Praveen, Ashwin/Umesh, Munaf Parthiv, Rohit Sharma Hopefully Sehwag, SRT and Zaheer will retire from ODIs altogether ... on paper a pace attack of Praveen, Irfan, Munaf and Umesh might be handy in the right conditions...give Rahane the openers slot in ODIs a good long term prospectiA...
