DomainK Posted April 3, 2011 Posted April 3, 2011 Good for him. I think he is quiting his job because he wants to go back to his country and spend time with friends and family. But he can definitely take the SA coach job while he would still get to spend time with friends and family.

He worked for diffrent conditions,diffrent plans,diffrent tactics in all conditions. As a SA FAN i would pray that he agrees as he will be home more than he did it for India. efforts for IND hope he brings his luck for SA team & make ue win a world cup.

I think he will take the job: I think he runs an academy there n would concentrate on that.coaching SA would still involve fair amount of travel.
VRV Singh Posted April 3, 2011 Posted April 3, 2011 I am sure he would do well...there are a lot of good things to work with in SA cricket Plus he is a decent guy and will be respected and known personally by a few of the players. I think this is the most important thing as a coach. Good luck if he takes it, and the same for the future if he doesn't.. :hatsoff:
siddhu Posted April 3, 2011 Posted April 3, 2011 Hi I am just curious if they are so high on Gary as coach now why they never offered it to him before he took India's Job.Now that he won here they want to piggyback on him to world cup win. Well, SA always try to POACH "our" support staff. They did the same with two of our support staff one was Adrian King (i think) our fitness instructor who left somewhere in 2003-2004 and one more after that. Once the guy is successful, then they will hire not before..:hatsoff::hatsoff: Anyway Back to topic. Kirsten has done wonders with this team. Personally, I would like for him to continue. yoda Posted April 3, 2011 Posted April 3, 2011 Just because he could perform this magic in India, it doesn't mean Gary can or will even be given the opportunity to do the magic there in SA. Remember CSA is riddled with controversies regarding player selection and quota issues and he may simply not want to be associated with all the mess. Anyways, good luck to CSA and SA fans in trying to convince Gary to coach their team. He simply was outstanding for us achieving the most with minimum amount of talk.

vpg0002 Posted April 3, 2011 Posted April 3, 2011 It makes total sense for Gary to take up RSA position as he will continue to be connected more at home than when is coaching India (even though it does not guarantee that he will in his home country for extended periods). Love for the country, committment to contribute to RSA cricket and incentive for being at home for some periods would make Gary take up this position.

Gary Kirsten is still South African, and would probably not take kindly to you refering to his old team like that. It doesn't make much sense to praise a man, yet mock the origin of his career. Kindly don't reply to that fool. I have edited his post and I would like it vey much if you would not take his comments seriously.
