Is it the Bollywood stars or the media or the politicians or people mixing up priorities? Many common people missed work to watch the games against Australia and Pakistan ( which weren't on weekends). Is that not a case of getting priorities wrong? Or can that be brushed under the carpet, as long as it is for the greater patriotic good of 'supporting' the country. We can't have it both ways. Ourselves miss work and then accuse the media of getting their priorities wrong. PS: I didn't miss work on either of those game days I respectfully disagree. The 'media' is not one monolithic entity with a single agenda. The media comprises of many different many units, many a times with diametrically opposing agendas. To club 'media' as one entity is as wrong a generalization as saying that all guys are stupid and all left handers are smart etc. Which media are you talking about? I think the media (most of them) reflect reality very well. And also reflecting what the nation wants to hear in addition to reality, in the form of celeb news, etc etc etc. Think of it as a mirror. Sometimes its a straight mirror showing you how exactly you are. Sometime its a crazy mirror , the kinds you find in malls/ Essel world where it distorts a bit but still essentially still shows you what you are. Tomorrow if you stand in front of the mirror and find that you are very ugly, is it the mirrors fault? Maybe you need a rhinoplasty or tweak your eyebrows or something. But breaking the mirror or blaming the mirror is not going to make you any more handsome. Just an example. I'm sure you are a very good looking guy. :icflove: Why treat the media(s) differently? Why blame them for what are flaws inherent to the society?
Sachin=GOD Posted April 6, 2011 Posted April 6, 2011 Its not the Bolly stars fault that they are shown by the camera every few seconds...........but the problem is that many a times we have seen that these stars are sitting quietly talking to someone with no interest in the match whatsoever, but the moment the camera is pointed at them they start waving their flags, shouting Indiaaaa Indiaaaaaaa showing as if they are very much interested in the match. I say Fk off, we don't need this Acting in the game like cricket, keep this acting to movies, don't bring it to the stadium.

How do you know what the actors are doing when the camera does not focus on them? Khabris? Spy satellite? Lol It can also be that people get tired of cheering and sit down. And if these people are not interested in the match, they wouldn't spend 9 hours there. Lets not judge people based on the very non measurable 'interest' in the match. And instead of watching the game why were you watching what the actors are doing when the camera wasn't focused on them?? That speaks volumes about your interest in the match :P Me thinks you are being too judgmental over something very trivial. If people want to cheer only when the camera is focused on it, so be it. I wouldn't say its a very nice thing to do, but its not a big crime either.

Lol you might have seen that many times the camera focuses on these "stars" when they are not aware of it, and 9 out of 10 times they're busy talking or doing something else and the moment they realise the camera is on them they start acting - shouting slogans, making victory signs with their hands etc. It can also be that people get tired of cheering and sit down. And if these people are not interested in the match, they wouldn't spend 9 hours there. They jump , they scream, wave their flags, wave at the camera etc. If its excusable for Peter, it should be excusable for Paul too. Don't you think so?

But my problem is simply this - this is cricket match I'm watching so I would like to see the cricketers in action, not the politicians, businessmen or the film stars. Simple as that. Also, if they are so interested in the matches then why is it that we usually see the celebrities only in the high profile matches - why not in the India-Ireland match, the "normal" people who are interested in the game would go for that match also methinks.

While you can be upset at the number of tickets being reserved for celebs and others in general, from whatever I have seen on TV, these guys look like genuine fans of Indian cricket just like you and me. I am sure some of them are there for the sake of publicity, but people claiming that guys like Aamir Khan was acting during the WC finals are just wrong, IMO. All I saw was another genuine fan totally enjoying the game like the rest of us.

Media only gives what sells and what sells in entertainment shows peoples mindset. Besides, camera shows them because they are popular and people like it when they are on screen. The media does not show anything that the society despises. They show only what sells, what is popular. So stop blaming the cameramen or the control room mixers.
