Sachin=GOD Posted April 5, 2011 Posted April 5, 2011 Afridi makes himself available for West Indies tour Pakistan's limited-overs' captain Shahid Afridi has made himself available for the upcoming tour of West Indies that begins on April 18. Afridi had indicated he wanted to be rested for the tour, following a hectic schedule for the Pakistan side culminating in their semi-final exit at the World Cup, but has changed his mind. "I had decided to skip the tour because I wanted to take a break from the game, but some former players and my family and friends told me to change my decision at this crucial time for Pakistan cricket," Afridi told Reuters. "One of the main reasons I wanted to take a break was because I wanted to be with my father who is not keeping well. But my father insisted that I carry on with the Pakistan team." Pakistan had a draining run-up to the World Cup, starting with the World Twenty20 in April 2010 followed by the Asia Cup in Sri Lanka, and a tour of England, which included full series against Australia and the home side. Next was another full-fledged bilateral series in the UAE against South Africa, and a long tour of New Zealand, before the team returned to the subcontinent for the World Cup. In addition to their gruelling on-field commitments, the Pakistan team also hurtled from one off-field controversy to another, including the spot-fixing scandal and Zulqarnain Haider's mysterious exit from the team hotel in UAE. They weren't expected to be a force in the World Cup, but ended up topping Group A before bowing out in the semi-finals against eventual champions India. Afridi led his side from the front, taking 21 wickets to finish as the join top wicket-taker along with India's Zaheer Khan. Afridi believed the West Indies tour would help continue his side's renaissance following the turbulent times in 2010. "There are indications that Pakistan cricket is on the right track and on the coming tours to West Indies and Zimbabwe we can form an ideal one-day combination," he said. "That is why I want to be part of the team on the coming tour and carry on the momentum we got from the World Cup." The West Indies tour includes a Twenty20, five one-dayers and two Tests, and begins on April 18, which allows the players less than three weeks of rest after their World Cup campaign Link Since the World Cup every statement that he has made, he has changed it at least 2 or 3 times - be it his views on India or the decision to play (or not to play) in the West Indies tour................kya yeh WC mein loss se paagal ho gaya hai :hysterical::hysterical:
Roshanrocks Posted April 5, 2011 Posted April 5, 2011 SHahid afrdid symbolises Pakistan cricket, thats why he is loved so much there Ban - Unban Retire - Un-retire say - unsay new word invented for the padosis
b555 Posted April 5, 2011 Posted April 5, 2011 he surely is worshipped out there probably because they cant find anyone else in the present teamt o do so? hafeez, shafiq, razzaq, misbah(not certainly after his last innings),akhtar, gul 9after his bowling proness against us in semis) still some how this guy's 37 ball century is struck in their minds and theya re reluctant to move ahead as nothing good has happened to them since then its either come, play, fix, getbanned, retire or come, play, flop, getbanned, retire thats how its been working and since afridi hasnt fallen into either of these 2 eternal cycles in pcb, may be thats why!

Two teams from the bottom division..
cricketfan2010 Posted April 6, 2011 Posted April 6, 2011 Just realised.. they now have Taufeeq Umar back. Absolutely hate that guy after the abuse he gave to Tendulkar. He is not good enough to clean tendulkar's muddy shoes, instead of appreciating one of the greatest innings of all time, He had to stoop down to this level to show his lack of class and upbringing.. [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hdsh_P95DKE]YouTube - Pakistan cricket player (Taufiq Umar) abusing Tendulkar..[/ame] But I guess this goes onto show how standards have dropped in Pakistan cricket that they have to go back to likes of Taufeeq umar and Imran Nazir every now and again..
ganeshran Posted April 6, 2011 Posted April 6, 2011 Good ploy to test out new bowlers Junaid and Aizaz cheema. Toffee kumar is back?? PCB cycle of - Retire, Unretire, Ban, Unban, Foot in mouth, other foot in mouth.

PCB cycle of - Retire, Unretire, Ban, Unban, Foot in mouth, other foot in mouth. None of the pakistani players are fully retired until they come out of retirement for at least 3 times..
Utalk Posted April 6, 2011 Posted April 6, 2011 So a thread that has nothing to do with India becomes Pak bashing thread because one of the players said something to Tendulkar years ago. Back to the squad decent squad but Taufeeq and Tanvir shouldn't be there.Glad to see Cheema, usman, Hammad and junaid there. But these guys need games not a holiday.
ganeshran Posted April 6, 2011 Posted April 6, 2011 Junaid and Cheema will get games from sure. Tanvir not so sure. And there is a new keeper who will certainly be better than kakmal. Pakistan should win both series comfortably.

Karan114 Posted April 6, 2011 Posted April 6, 2011 Lol...they've finally dropped Kamran Akmal, even if took them about four years to figure out he's rubbish :haha: Pak beat NZ in NZ in both Tests and ODIs so they should win easily against WI, who are worse than NZ in ODIs and around the same level in Tests
Stuge Posted April 6, 2011 Posted April 6, 2011 Don't worry Kamran will find his way back into Pakistani team again .This is just drama to calm Pakistani publlic .
Sir john Posted April 6, 2011 Posted April 6, 2011 looks like young team for me so misah vs afridi :fight: still on
