akshayxyz Posted April 8, 2011 Posted April 8, 2011 Well with our influence and money bags we can "persuade" australians to slow down WACA and then enjoy the whining from poms and ozzies :winky: +1 BCCI Zindabad. We will be the champions. ..fixed...:yay:
Zap_Brannigan Posted April 8, 2011 Author Posted April 8, 2011 2011 was India's World cup 2015 is ESPN's World cup
kabira Posted April 8, 2011 Posted April 8, 2011 don't mind wee bit if we play in Perth. But isn't world cup where you test the teams on different pitches.
Cricketics Posted April 8, 2011 Posted April 8, 2011 Perth.. NICE.. i loved the headline as soon as i read it.. I am excited already
Ultimate_Game Posted April 8, 2011 Posted April 8, 2011 I hope we play at Perth against sub-continental teams and play Aussies, SA, Eng and WI at some other venue - preferably Auckland where the grounds are small and pitch flat
Sir_Afridi Posted April 8, 2011 Posted April 8, 2011 India record at Perth in ODIs http://stats.espncricinfo.com/ci/engine/team/6.html?class=2;filter=advanced;ground=213;orderby=default;template=results;type=team
Ultimate_Game Posted April 8, 2011 Posted April 8, 2011 India record at Perth in ODIs http://stats.espncricinfo.com/ci/engine/team/6.html?class=2;filter=advanced;ground=213;orderby=default;template=results;type=team Some more records before the World Cu 2011 final... 1. Only 2 out of 9 teams won while chasing 2. Highest score ever chased successfully in a final - 241 3. Highest total chased at Wankhade - 225 4. 65% of the teams batting second lost at Wankhade 5. No team ever won the World Cup at home We all know how it all ended Let's see what Paki batting lineup does when they bat at WACA coz that's gonna be hilarious :hysterical:
Raghav_12 Posted April 8, 2011 Posted April 8, 2011 Hmmm.....it gives me pleasure to read the standard childish whining from arrogant pommies. Look at the head line of the article. Looks as if evil India has shut Ireland off the world cup. Coming to OP, yep, ESPN has got ICC by its balls. It is favourite timepass for British and Australian media. Blame any thing including global warming on BCCI.. Such bunch of whinners :haha::haha:
rajmarie Posted April 8, 2011 Posted April 8, 2011 Time for BCCI to step in and b*tchslap ESPN. :cantstop: They cant b*tchslap ESPN since BCCI dont have no contract with them. BCCI home tours are sold to Neo....IPL to Sony. Only 2 weeks T20 CT sold to ESPN....for which they paid BCCI a lot. So if anything...its ESPN who can & should b*tchslap the BCCI. B->
WC2011INDIA Posted April 8, 2011 Posted April 8, 2011 Could come back to bite ESPN's ass if India doesn't make it to semis. I am not too sure about 1992 format because then that would mean India will have to take all their matches in round robin seriously and always field well.
Params7 Posted April 8, 2011 Posted April 8, 2011 ESPN can their way. They finally snatched cricket from CricketonPPV lovers like DishTV/DirecTV charging ridiculous amounts preventing cricket from growing here on USA when everybody wants to watch it on TV and without Indian matrimonial ads in between overs.

Stuge Posted April 8, 2011 Posted April 8, 2011 so this is in 2015 ..hmm its not even one week when we won the world cup..Keep the celebrations on
WC2011INDIA Posted April 8, 2011 Posted April 8, 2011 I have a question guys. The WC is hosted after every 4 years. How come the WC after 1987 was held in 1992? Why not 1991? Also, why was WC in 1999 held 3 years after 1996?
akshayxyz Posted April 8, 2011 Posted April 8, 2011 1999 was to compensate for the 5 year gap. However not sure about 1987-1992 gap.

Also, why was WC in 1999 held 3 years after 1996? I guess they wanted to play last the world cup of century ,thats why they choose 1999 and not 2000. I don't think 2000 olympics could be the reason for it .
akshayxyz Posted April 8, 2011 Posted April 8, 2011 anyway 1992 was in jan/feb i guess, and 1991 would have been in june or so - that is when Aussies have Winters - so to avoid that perhaps.
Stuge Posted April 8, 2011 Posted April 8, 2011 1999 was to compensate for the 5 year gap. However not sure about 1987-1992 gap. I guess you're right . first world was held in 1975 .So ,they wanted to keep odd numbered year.

Also, why was WC in 1999 held 3 years after 1996? I think they go by the cricketing season rather than going strictly by year in which it is played. For an example 87 WC happened in season 87-88 and 92 WC happened in 91-92 season. So there was no gap. Also 96 WC hapened in season 95-96 and 99 WC happened in season 99. I guess England cricket season being different from rest of the world has something to do with this problem. But nowadays with Cricket being played all across the year, this concept of seasons is becoming obsolete, particularly to common fans. Otherwise, I recall there used to be time in early 90's where there might not be any cricketing action for long durations like 3-4 months.
