How strong our test team middle order is

How much ever tiring the upcoming season be, I think this season our players look in great touch. Dravid seems to be playing better. Century at Abu Dhabi for MCC. Did you see his - SIX, FOUR, FOUR to Irfan pathan in todays game??? All elegant looking shots Laxman has been in pretty good touch too. Tendulkar had a pretty good world cup and is looking pretty strong in these ongoing games. The last slot would be most likely retained by Pujara or Yuvi. Regardless of that, I think our team is looking pretty strong. I can't wait for that first test in Windies Land, The first test at Lords, and offcourse the Boxing Day test in Melbourne Feast of test cricket, and our batting looks the strongest in past couple of years. This should be our season. R

The biggest situation India will be faced with in the near future.. is the retirement of VVS, Dravid & Sachin. It wouldn't affect ODIs as much.. but it'll definitely create some vacuum in Test Cricket for India.

We are looking forward to future with a blank.. Luckily viru and Gauti won't be that old.. So wie will have some time to draft the new guns. More than the batsmanship even technique, i am more worried about the temperament. Temperament to score big runs at the highest level. Scoring in first class is not the same as scoring at the Test level. You need to see off bowlers, see off sessions, see off 2nd new ball if necessary.. there are lot of intricacies involved in Test cricket. Hopefully we stumble onto a Laxman or Azharuddin or Dravid. I do not think we will ever get a Sachin Tendulkar.

Tendulkar has scored so much more than him that we are made to think and hope for even some like Dravid can be reborn but the truth is that players like Driavd also come once in a lifetime. Not many people go on to achieve 30+ test centureis and play over 100 tests and lead their side to victories in games where our side is ready to face a humiliating defeat as in innigns defeat at home. Most part of my life till date. Atleast from 2001 - 2006, I would have wanted Dravid over Tendulkar. Past few years it has changed. That is only for test though.

or for that matter even a Laxman. His deeds starting with that Kolkata 2001 thru the Durban 2011 and many such gems in between puts him on par with any great Test batsman and one of the most unique players who has the knack of coming up with something special when all else around him fail.

He has actually become better without doubt. But back to topic. Tendulkar would be eager to go to Windies. He missed out last time when we won there. He, I think was suffering from Tennis Elbow, and had to skip that tour.

Now is the right time to bring in young blood in the middle order on a consistent basis so that they can get experience about the things with seniors around . Dravid should quit at the earliest and youngsters must play around Sachin and Laxman to build up a good Test Team in the future once both seniors retire.

i think this year IPL is the best thing to happen to Dravid. he is reinventing himself.playing freely. it would have been tough for him to come in and play only tests. here he is going through a tough grind and will come out much stronger than ever, with this RR team. Pujara, Rohit, Kohli , Yuvi, Raina , M.Vijay, Abhinav Mukund , Rahane are some of the front runners to replace the current 1-6 in tests. but they should earn their place in the team just like how Ganguly, Dravid and Laxman performed year after year in the domestic competitions and proved their worth. Pujara, Raina, Yuvi have more or less made the cut. but depending on form,fitness, technique against bouncers/swing , selectors should offer the youngsters opportunities. injuries create opportunities almost once every tour. it is up to these guys to grab the opportunities and cement their places.
