I hope selectors don't basee their decisions purely on IPL as some decent players haven't had right opportunity with all the chopping and changing e.g. U.Yadav, Aaron, Pujara, Rahane, S.Tiwary P Ojha, and what happened to the likes of Tyagi, Sangwan, Yo Mahesh. They should consider the domestic one-day tournaments and the recent Emerging Players Tournament in Australia. In 2009 Kohli really came to the fore in Emerging Players Tournment in NZ. At the end of day 20/20 is still hit&miss&giggle compared to ODIs and Tests. My ODI XI (resting/injured: Sachin, Sehwag, Dhoni, Zaheer, Bhaji) 1 Gambhir (capt) 2 Rayudu 3 Kohli 4 Yuvraj 5 Raina 6 Yusuf Pathan 7 Parthiv (wkt) 8 Rahul Sharma 9 Ashwin 10 Munaf Patel 11 U.Yadav Subs: Badrinath, Irafan Pathan, Unadkat, Aaron, Ojha Note: Rayudu might be having a good IPL but he was always future Test potential when he was U19 Indian captain, until he got screwed first by his father then Hyderabad then by ICL. Remember he played for a team that were Ranji finalists this year. When I first saw him play for U19 I believed we had found to some extent a successor to Sachin, but alas Rayudu was led to the wrong paths. Very humble and soft spoken too! Also I think the likes Aaron, U. Yadav, Chahar, Unadkat need to be given an year long run at international level to learn and develop their control and skill, if they fail to muster at the top level then fair enough drop them. Just like how Rohit Sharma was given over 2 years to prove himself but failed convince at top level. India really need to develop that regular hit the deck fast bowler. Remember Sreesanth set eyes rolling during his debut in SA and he was awesome again this year, but on flat tracks is cannon fodder.

DO u guys Think that UMESH YADAV Or Varun Aroon or ABU Nachim will get a chance in the windies ONE day Matches I am not sure whether selectors pick the genuine fast bowlers which in my mind apart from ISHANT /ZAK/Sreesanth are.... Umesh Yadav Varun Aroon Abu Nachim the above 3 guys shud be nurtured instead of grooming and nurturing these just smart bowlers like vinay kumar /praveen kumar /sreenath arvind / parmeshwaran prasnth/ even that weak left arm medium pacer( forgetting the name) ZAK will not go to WINDIES as he needs rest and Sreesanth may not be picked as he needs to get his head in order and get back to full form apart from ishant we need some genuine fast bowlers as spinners will hardly work in windies and ther will be bounce there which is supposed to be utilised.. i dont think praveen can use it.. though vinay has a stock bouncer and he may do well, so for me vinay cud be a better bet than even Praveen Kumar. Sreenath arvind may be fine in a T 20 but wl he suceed in one day- NO i dont think he is international material.... sidharth trivedi - may be a good t 20 bowler but is he a one day international bowler- i would like to doubt. praveen kumar is as shrewd as ZAK if not more....but ZAK has pace as well as shrewdness and thats why praveen kumar is fuc.'d in the second spell in a one day international though he is a great bowler with the new ball but with the old ball , the no 9 Batsmen hoists him for sixes.

do remember windies wickets are bouncy ? ON indian Spin friendly wickets...raw fast bowlers may be one of the worst things and Spinners like rahul sharma ,Ashwin ,iqbal abdulla ,bhargav bhat and even the left arm newly found Spinner YUVRAJ( newly found as he is a spinner only on indian tracks i bet he will hardly perform on foreign tracks) would be great BOWLERS... DO not over estimate these bowlers , always remember at the back of your mind that spinners r good bowlers only on indian and Srilankan tracks as as soon as Australian, english, windies tracks come, only bowlers who rule the roast are Fast Bowlers and Shreyd fast medium pace bowlers like ZAK.. slow shrewd smart bowlers like praveen also fail on thos tracks. bowlers like sreesanth ishant as he is now a days become deadly bowlers as they have pace bpounce accuracy apart from ZAK...Spinners r hardly picked and then only genuinely great spinners warne Swann bhajji and even ashiwin will suceed..second stream of spinners wont suceed n hence shud not be picked for a west indies tour.

Not Yadav. In my opinion he is still far too raw. From what i have seen Abu Nechim looks very promising and i was very impressed with Varun Aaron's 1st 2 overs in the IPL match taking place right now.

I would say rest all seniors for the England and Aus tour. By all, I mean Dhoni,Sachin,Gambhir,Zaheer,Harbhajan & Sehwag(by default now since injury). Send them to England 3 weeks before first test to get used to conditions. Since Laxman & Dravid did not figure much in ODI ,T20 over last 3 months they need not be rested for WI. Send them to WI to guide young team in tests & send them to England during last test if the series has been won before last test. Make Laxman captain for WI test series. He deserves that honor atleast once before he retires. Test team should be M.Vijay Rayudu (Wk) Rahane Rohit Sharma Dravid Laxman Badrinath Ishant PK Ashwin Mishra Reserves for test : Pujara , Parthiv , ManojTiwari, UmeshYadav,Sreesanth. For ODI Yusuf Pathan Rayudu (wk) Kohli Raina Yuvraj Rohit Sharma Badrinath RahulSharma Ashwin Munaf Praveen kumar. Reserves for test : Mishra , Uttappa , Ishant , For just one off T20 no need to send any new players.

Selectors meet with many variables Sidharth Monga May 12, 2011 India's first selection meeting after the World Cup triumph - to pick the side for the West Indies tour - promises to be an open affair, not least because at least three first-choice players are almost certain to miss the limited-overs leg. The new coach, Duncan Fletcher, too, flies down for the selection meeting, adding more interest to the proceedings. With Sachin Tendulkar and Zaheer Khan almost sure to opt out, Virender Sehwag off for his shoulder surgery and Ashish Nehra still recovering from the broken finger that kept him out of the World Cup final, there are quite a few places for the selectors to debate upon. There is also doubt over the extent, if any, of MS Dhoni's participation in the limited-overs leg of the tour. In any case, indications are that Gautam Gambhir is set to become the full-time vice-captain across formats, taking over from Virender Sehwag, who had previously expressed his reluctance to perform the role. Gambhir captained India to a 5-0 ODI series win over New Zealand last year when Dhoni flew to South Africa to acclimatise for a Test series that began six days after the last New Zealand ODI. If Dhoni shoulders arms this time, Gambhir will be the captain for the limited-overs games. If Gambhir too wants a rest, Harbhajan Singh, who has announced his availability for the whole tour, could make his captaincy debut. Praveen Kumar is a ready replacement for Zaheer, and Ishant Sharma should take Nehra's place. Sreesanth's inclusion could face some competition from R Vinay Kumar. Piyush Chawla, who was part of the World Cup squad, is unlikely to retain his place. Pragyan Ojha is the logical replacement, but it is understood that Amit Mishra, Ravindra Jadeja and Rahul Sharma are all in contention. The interesting point here is whether the selectors will factor in IPL performances in the case of, say, Rahul. The legspinner has been a standout performer for Pune Warriors this IPL season, but does not have a strong domestic record to back him. Picking players straight out of the IPL hasn't been a fruitful experience in the past. Manpreet Gony and Ashok Dinda are prime examples. M Vijay would have been the automatic replacement for Sehwag's opening spot in a Test squad, but things are not so straightforward in ODIs: he has a top score of 33 in 11 innings in the format. Picking Parthiv Patel, who has done enough to overtake Dinesh Karthik as the No.2 wicketkeeper, will provide India with a reserve opener in addition to a wicketkeeper. S Badrinath and Rohit Sharma, the two top run-getters in the Ranji Trophy, are strong contenders for the batting vacancies. The other left-field options are Manoj Tiwary and Ambati Rayudu, who can keep wicket as well.
