Cricketics Posted April 25, 2011 Posted April 25, 2011 This is going to be my new phone. Getting it today from Tmobile chk the specs The phon has a HDMI jack too. Good battery life.. Vanilla Android.. http://www.gsmarena.com/t_mobile_g2x-reviews-3888p2.php
Sachinism Posted April 25, 2011 Posted April 25, 2011 Too much choice on Android now I don't know which one to pick up - Most likely I'll go for Desire HD
Cricketics Posted April 25, 2011 Author Posted April 25, 2011 Desire HD.. Isn't it same as the American version of HTC Inspire 4g from At&t. Should be good. At&t sold a lot of them. But i am not a big fan of it's front look though. Try this one before buying.
nospam Posted April 25, 2011 Posted April 25, 2011 Not the first ever, Nexus Series come without any customizations from HTC/Samsung I have the Atrix 4g, similar features (processor, weight, size, weight), more ram than G2x, crappy camera and better 4g speeds than Tmobile (theoretical). Would still wait for Samsung Galaxy S II unless you cannot change contracts from Tmobile.
Cricketics Posted April 25, 2011 Author Posted April 25, 2011 Tmobile will be taken over by At&t and this is a dual core phone which is what i like the most. Plus there won't be any problem in an year once At&t takes over the Tmobile Atrix, howz it?? My friend got that the other day. Bragging alot about it. Regarding speed of Atrix, not really sure if it can match HSPA of Tmob. The look and the battery life surely keeps Optimus G2x on top of many other phones Plus if you are a big gamer, this is the best piece out there. I thought you were a Iphone addict.

Specs comparison: http://www.gsmarena.com/compare.php3?idPhone1=3708&idPhone2=3888 Atrix has the same processor as G2x, Atrix has 1024 MB Ram > G2x which has 512 MB Ram, and From what I've read and not tested- At&t 4g speeds are faster than Tmobile 4g (thought Att hasn't enabled 4g, still under testing phase). Also, Atrix has 1930 mAh standard battery > G2 has 1500 mAh. So not only is Atrix faster than G2x it has a better battery life than the G2x. I cannot comment on the looks of the phone since I havent seen the G2x, but Atrix has the regular touch screen shape, it is pretty light weight and has a good screen. Also, from the gsmarena specs, Atrix has other additional features such as the Guerrilla screen, fingerprint scanner and 16gb internal memory whereas G2x has gyroscope and 8gb internal memory. Good things about the G2x - developer friendly Tmobile (unlocked bootloaders ftw), better camera. I also have the iPhone and touch, waiting for the dual core model and iOS 5.
Holysmoke Posted April 25, 2011 Posted April 25, 2011 I'm either gonna buy the next iphone or the HTC sensation.
Rajiv Posted April 25, 2011 Posted April 25, 2011 Hey tics haven't heard good things abt LG, dont rush on it
Cricketics Posted April 25, 2011 Author Posted April 25, 2011 Hey tics haven't heard good things abt LG, dont rush on it I also was skeptical on buying an Lg product. Never owned any. But i will give this a try. There is a 14 day exchange poilicy here. If it's not good, I will get something else. For now, it's the next best phone here.

I will have to get in hand and use it for sometime to exactly see howz it.. THe main reason is Hdmi Jack. I just love to have HDMi on my cell I cannot comment on the looks of the phone since I havent seen the G2x, but Atrix has the regular touch screen shape, it is pretty light weight and has a good screen. Thats what makes it pretty kool I also have the iPhone and touch, waiting for the dual core model and iOS 5.

Rajiv Posted April 25, 2011 Posted April 25, 2011 How often will u use HDMI jack, u will still play a movie of PC or DVD player Only good if u wanna show movies u take
nospam Posted April 25, 2011 Posted April 25, 2011 I will have to get in hand and use it for sometime to exactly see howz it.. THe main reason is Hdmi Jack. I just love to have HDMi on my cell Atrix also has the hdmi with a webtop and entertainment mode. In webtop mode you can use it as your PC (installed with customized version of Ubuntu) and entertainment mode is for movies, pics, etc. Best part of Atrix is using it as a netbook pc, you can send and receive sms, phone calls while you are surfing the web or watching movies on hulu in firefox :two_thumbs_up:
Cricketics Posted April 26, 2011 Author Posted April 26, 2011 How often will u use HDMI jack, u will still play a movie of PC or DVD player Only good if u wanna show movies u take I DON'T KNOW.. may be watching cricket on the tv at office or computer through my cell phone I am excited to try.. Hope you understand what I mean. The recent willow tv hd phone streaming has made me very excited about this new generation streaming. I have already started thinking of how I am going to watch test matches of INdia-England in july on my phone when I am travelling or away from home.

Never really bother checking those features out. But does make Atrix a pretty good phone definatelly.
lonestarranger Posted April 26, 2011 Posted April 26, 2011 Have the Atrix here, and not that impressed with it honestly.. T-Mo? :fail:
Cricketics Posted April 26, 2011 Author Posted April 26, 2011 Have the Atrix here, and not that impressed with it honestly.. T-Mo? :fail: What are the problems you faced with Atrix??? Btw, calling a particular carrier FAIL, isn't rite. Verizon is USA's best provider and most reliable. And after that all are at same level depending on which location you are in.
CasualVisitor Posted April 26, 2011 Posted April 26, 2011 Also, Atrix has 1930 mAh standard battery > G2 has 1500 mAh. So not only is Atrix faster than G2x it has a better battery life than the G2x. Am sure you know this but more juicy battery does not mean better battery life. The battery could be juicier but if OS isn't tuned correctly, the drain could be lot higher and it can give poor battery life. Just a theory, not a statement on Atrix's battery performance :winky:
lonestarranger Posted April 26, 2011 Posted April 26, 2011 What are the problems you faced with Atrix??? Only that occasional restart till now (*knock on wood*), but it's pretty frustrating if and when that happens. And, battery life is laughable (I do have Wi-Fi almost always on, but hey this IS a smartphone, innit?). If I don't charge it overnight, it'd die before mid-day. Period. And, this is touted to be the best battery-life android phone yet. Oh, the irony. Also, I'm facing weird signal issues with my univ's Wi-fi. Doesn't happen at my place though (bad signal amplification/repeaters?) I can't say yet. But my friend who had a WP7 beside me (at my univ) had no Wi-Fi issues at all. I got PWNed big time - that too by sh1tty M$..:(( I'm just hoping that its a chipset firmware issue that is upgradable.. :nervous:

For a moment I felt about rethinking about this Lg G2x, Atrix looks shabby now man.
