I have never seen a smart phone that wouldn't drain the battery if you turn the WiFi on always. WiFi/3G/bluetooth will drain the battery pretty soon if you don't take care of your phone. There are several people with WiFi issues, check this thread on xda. Maybe, lonestarranger got a faulty atrix phone. I never had any WiFi issue. Mutli-core phones use less (more efficient) power than single core phones, get better battery life because of power gating. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Power_gating Several people have shared their battery benchmarks on xda: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=967763 . Some are pretty happy with it some are not. I am fine with it, I get good moderate usage on my phone and still have juice left. I have rooted my phone, installed SetCPU, setup 3 profiles- profile 1- when <30% battery left- use 600Mhz (instead of 1GHz), profile 2- when screen is off - use 700 Mhz and when is on - use 800 Mhz. So I never had to use any app that required 1Ghz (I play pes and works great on 800 Mhz) and it also saved me battery life. I also have deodexed my phone and removed all the bloat ware from At&t so that I don't have it running in my background. I also have autostarts app which lets me disable applications to automatically run in the background and advanced task manager which helps me monitor and close apps that are running in the background. I never recommended the Atrix, just shared what I have experienced. As I said if it was me I would wait for the Samsung Galaxy S II and then decide (post #4).

Atrix also has the hdmi with a webtop and entertainment mode. In webtop mode you can use it as your PC (installed with customized version of Ubuntu) and entertainment mode is for movies' date=' pics, etc. Best part of Atrix is using it as a netbook pc, you can send and receive sms, phone calls while you are surfing the web or watching movies on hulu in firefox :two_thumbs_up:[/quote'] Goodluck using the webtop. Only that occasional restart till now (*knock on wood*), but it's pretty frustrating if and when that happens. And, battery life is laughable (I do have Wi-Fi almost always on, but hey this IS a smartphone, innit?). If I don't charge it overnight, it'd die before mid-day. Period. And, this is touted to be the best battery-life android phone yet. Oh, the irony. Also, I'm facing weird signal issues with my univ's Wi-fi. Doesn't happen at my place though (bad signal amplification/repeaters?) I can't say yet. But my friend who had a WP7 beside me (at my univ) had no Wi-Fi issues at all. I got PWNed big time - that too by sh1tty M$..:(( I'm just hoping that its a chipset firmware issue that is upgradable.. :nervous:

Rajiv, how's the battery life on your captivate?? Does it drain out fast. Say, you are going for a drive and you might need gps for next 4 hours, will your phone be dead or close to it???

AFter recalibrating, I would guess 30% remaining with 3G + GPS + Navi

that post was in jan It was new that time, I read stuff abt it recently that it wasn't as good as it was advertised...thats why http://www.talkandroid.com/29609-engadget-reviews-the-dual-core-lg-optimus-2x/ In the negatives department, they seemed really let down by LG’s implementation of Android, which was pretty laggy even on this dual-core monster, in which they compared the performance to an “18-month old HTC Hero”. They were also shocked at how much system resources the software used, around 300MB of the internal 512MB of memory, leaving little left for installing apps. Worse yet, some apps like the music app can’t be shut down due to its integration into Android’s slide down menu. The best thing they could say about it is that “it doesn’t crash too often”, which is really damning praise.

I think they have fixed all of that from the Euro version of O2X because none of those issues which were mentione in replies occured. I will still play around for few more days to see if I really want to keep this phone.

Thats pretty good. What kills the battery the most is one of those led lightgs which keep flashing plus the gps on i guess. Btw, whats teh best app too take the screenshot of the phone?? I know if the phone is rooted, we won't even need an app.

Last I read was that G2x has a built-in screenshot app like the iPhone so just press the Home and power key and check your gallery app for the screenshot. Most phones require root to take screenshots, I use Screenshot ER since there are very few apps that support the tegra platform. Without root you need to have SDK installed to take the screenshot - very painful process.

Nospam.. Seems to be working absolutely fine that feature. Homescreen plus lock button works great. Thanks. Didn't know about it. Btw, your atrix has been rooted rite.. Because thats the o nly wey i guess we can figure out the amount of usage of particular things. Deeply specific i mean.
