To me Rock music is a bunch of people shouting and playing some pain staking music in the background. The music gives me head aches and the guy shouting makes it worse so I would rather skip it. Rap and RnB songs have good catchy beats and a good flow in the music. There are plenty good meaningful rap songs. I don't listen to "momma booty" kind of music.

Queen, Led Zeppelin, The Police, Sting, Eric Clapton/Cream, Yes, Journey, Yardbirds, Beatles, are all rock bands/musicians. And "pain-staking music?" Yeah...it is pain-stakingly crafted, and not some studio creation comprised of plagiarized samples pain-stakingly created by someone else, fart-noises, and beeps & blops in an endless loop, over which a tone-deaf idiot without basic knowledge of music theory raps on and then relies on synthesizers and voice modulation devices to make him/her sound remotely bearable. Despite that, Eminem still sounds like a gerbil on helium and DMX and Ja Rule still sound like some "bhikari" you find loitering around your neighborhood temple. I have no issues with Alicia Keys, Jennifer Hudson, etc., who are definitely talented.

This was all a few years ago though. Now the metal I listen to is more black, doom and post-metal mainly. Mayhem, Neurosis, Esoteric, etc, etc. But I listen to a lot more than metal these days. Are those the bands that you listen to?

The main reason I dont like metallica is because of the pretend hardness. I mean the first band that I got into was Napalm Death when I was 14 and in high school and pretty much grew up on a diet of extreme metal since then. Like I said, metallica is amazingly stereotypical, watered down, cheesy 'metal' music with zero originality whatsoever, packaged and produced for the masses. And about the cheesiness, S & M!! Can it get any worse than that?!! I can understand if it was the first band that introduced someone to metal like Limp Bizkit and they still like it for sentimental reasons though... Like Slayer and Reign In Blood? If you're talking death metal, I am out.

I have known very few people from north who follow either of those .

May I remind you that India's first (and only?) rock/metal music magazine "Rock Street Journal," began in Allahabad, of all places (currently based in New Delhi) in the early 1990's. The Great Indian Rock fest began in New Delhi. ...And I know many who do love and even play rock/metal in North India. It's the company you keep, I guess. Delhi hasn't exactly been a favored location for rock bands to headline there (B'lore is the de facto Rock Capital of India), and yet I know many people who have traveled from Delhi to see Megadeth, Iron Maiden, etc. play in Bangalore and Mumbai. Ticket reservations on since the first of this month . so nayones interested , hurry up . I'd like to know how it is that you ascertained that "NAYONES INTERESTED." Who provided you the statistics regarding the purchase? I'm curious. Moreover, it's been a mere 12 DAYS since the tickets went on sale online, and you think that sufficient time has passed to conclude that "NAYONES INTERESTED?" Here's a true story: Back during my graduate program in a university here around 6 yrs ago, we'd put up Diwali dinner tickets on sale for over a month before the actual event: 300 online + 50 on-site tickets. Online sales were scheduled to close at 5pm the day before the event without exceptions, and I sent 5 reminder emails in that one-month period. Guess how many tickets were purchased online 1 hour before closing? Answer: 275. And all those buyers were desis. And >75 people turned up for the 50 on-site tickets. Almost all among this group of 75+ were friends and acquaintances who participated in the Diwali events, knew about the details, and also happened to be those whom I reminded IN-PERSON throughout their rehearsals (besides the emails, of course) to go buy tickets online. None of them acted until "chiriya chug gayi khet." That's how we desis procrastinate. Reserve your judgment until the actual event. Barring a "miracle," the turnout is going to be a massive...guaranteed!
