Stuge Posted April 29, 2011 Author Posted April 29, 2011 I haven't seen a single game. there you go :):hatsoff:
ViruRulez Posted April 29, 2011 Posted April 29, 2011 Not surprised as I mentioned a few weeks ago too. They have messed up the overall package of cricket + entertainment + controversies which was pulling the IPL higher and higher all these years .. even I am hardly much interested this year .. even team loyalties have changed and is not that constant now .. I used to hate KKR in earlier years but it has almost become my favorite team this year .. so a lot of changes which did not go well with IPL I suppose
rajmarie Posted April 29, 2011 Posted April 29, 2011 Add to it...as I said earlier...this year...there has been till now...less exciting games..& more 1 sided & dull games. Ex todays MI vs RR game. There interest was high..Sachin vs Warne....but the games has been complete snooze fest. Fans cant be blamed for not showing interest in such games.
ViruRulez Posted April 29, 2011 Posted April 29, 2011 thats what I wanted to say the feelling when India plays is entirely different . Nation comes first to me then state .of-course things start at state level ,but this is different . That is a no brainer and it was the same even when IPL was at its peak. It was not as if anybody preferred IPL to national team matches. It is just that IPL and especially Lalit Modi did everything to tap to the huge cricket lovers base in the country. Not to mention that he got cheerleaders with skimpy clothes and big boobs (eg. DC and RCB cheerleaders in IPL 1) which was followed by cheerleaders almost in lingerie (eg. RR cheerleaders in IPL 2) and such things which were almost unseen on Indian Television till that time. Then he also added the parties where the hottest Bollywood celebs and international celebs made appearance in the hottest outfits with fashion shows etc. thrown in too. The format of cricket was also interesting with huge sixes being hit at will on dry pancake pitches. Not to mention that celebs thronged the stadiums too in every match and Modi himself seemed to be close to almost every Bollywood and international celeb. To add to that, there were controversies and a lot of controversies attached to the League every few days which also helped in popularity. So, overall it was good marketing policy and entertainment cum cricket package which worked. But once the whole package and Lalit Modi was removed the IPL started to decline and that is not a surprise.
The Outsider Posted April 29, 2011 Posted April 29, 2011 Watched around 6-7 matches, which is actually more than what I watched in last 2 editions by this stage of the tournament. Though I don't think I am contributing to the official TRPs by watching them on illegal streams.
anotherhawkeye Posted April 29, 2011 Posted April 29, 2011 Modi :isalute: I'm happy Modi is gone, just for one reason. IPL parties. They were spoiling our younger players. I would rather have 20% less viewers for IPL than our young superstars not playing to their potential. Boring IPL is well worth the price.
ViruRulez Posted April 29, 2011 Posted April 29, 2011 Modi :isalute: I personally feel that the biggest mistake L Modi did was to take direct panga with Chidambaram at first (during IPL 2 when PC said IPL needed to be adjusted for the national elections which L Modi refused and also somewhat insulted PC) and then to take direct panga with Tharoor during the Kochi franchisee thing. If he had not done these two things then he would have been enjoying and leading IPL for sure. That proved that he is a good marketer but not a good tactician. He perhaps forgot RajKumar's famous dialogue "jinke ghar sheeshe ke hote hai wo dooro pe patthar nahin maaara karte" and especially if that doosra is the govt. of the nation. :giggle:

rajmarie Posted April 29, 2011 Posted April 29, 2011 they stll have IPL parties with less media attention :dontknow: Those parties mostly dont involve players. So good still
ViruRulez Posted April 29, 2011 Posted April 29, 2011 they stll have IPL parties with less media attention :dontknow: I dont think they are organizing noticeable IPL parties with any celebs this year. At most there might be a few celebration parties for particular match wins.
rajmarie Posted April 29, 2011 Posted April 29, 2011 After a dull MI vs RR game....this game between RCB & PW looks much much better & will get much much higher rating. Hoping PW also good batting like RCB.
flamy Posted April 29, 2011 Posted April 29, 2011 I hope any remaining interest fizzles out and IPL can vanish totally in 2 years. Will be so much better for the game of cricket. I cud say the same about whineleg and this board :hmmm:

ViruRulez Posted April 30, 2011 Posted April 30, 2011 when was it ever constant? :finger: :thefinger:
saneindian Posted April 30, 2011 Posted April 30, 2011 Last 3 IPLs our team hadn't won a WC a week before the IPL began. Qualiy wise, cricket has been much better this season. Most matches involving quality teams have seen good crowds turning up at the stadiums, advertisers are all happy with the response IPL has seen so far, all 8 old franchisees (including DD) are likely to make profits this year, so there isn't much wrong with the IPL this season. What we don't have is obviously the hype surrounding it and "paid news" to hype it even more. There is no Modicam either showing every move of LM after every delivery. I have been watching matches involving promising Indian players especially the pacers and keeping track of what they are doing and almost all of them are at least bowling with some pace and not getting murdered the way they were in last 3 seasons.
Aaku Posted April 30, 2011 Posted April 30, 2011 Those parties mostly dont involve players. So good still are you kidding me ? one of myfrnds knows these couple of young players in the IPL.. and she tels me how they talk bout being 'sloshed' with international players after every match they play:giggle:
b555 Posted April 30, 2011 Posted April 30, 2011 you want touch of Indian Porn league too :giggle: :hysterical:
