Yoda, I suspect the need to come across as patriotic and proud is an inverse function of your country's status. Europeans are relentlessly self critical of their nations and I suspect a majority of educated Americans are the same. And here we have somebody waxing eloquent. Your country is among the lowest in the Human Development Index, the 2nd most corrupt on earth, accounts for 90% of the terrorism around the world, it's just been caught pants down sheltering the most wanted terrorist in the history of mankind, was not consulted before big brother broke into its house and exterminated its pet vermin....and yet you are feeling unaccountably proud of your country. You have an irresistible to salute, break out into patriotic paeans... Says a lot about you, I'd think.

White House Press Conference just started.. Live on CNN..
Thanks. :two_thumbs_up: Lots of details emerging. 1. US forces left Pak Airspace before Pakistanis were notified :finger: 2. Best intelligence about OBL since Tora Bora. Obama had to make a call without knowing for sure if he was there.

Joh Brennan: We didn't inform any Pakistanis until the US forces had returned from Pakistani airspace, and we were on the lookout for any Pakistani jets, etc being deployed who might engage us. We noticed that they were scrambling to deploy, but we didn't encounter any engagement. There you go, the Pakistanis weren't informed, and were caught off-guard and were a bit slow to respond.

.................After years of insisting that bin Laden wasn't in its territory, the government of Pakistan today neither lauded nor condemned the killing of bin Laden by U.S. special forces in an attack that unfolded in a mansion less than 1,000 feet from the top Pakistani military academy.......................read more...

^^ Maybe he looks slightly different now (probably no beard.. heavier), plus the bullet through the head might have messed up the face. US might be worried that the photos might cause more conspiracy theories to crop up ?

But why bury him so soon? Its very difficult for me to believe why they disposed of the body so soon :hmmmm2:
well it has to be done within 24 hours (per Islam). so guess they could have tried to find a country which will take him and bury him there. they instead chose to just dump him. don't think it makes a diff where they bury him - sea or land. :dontknow:

The fact that Pakistan couldn't find the world's biggest terrorist - not in some cave but in their own suburbia - should be a national disgrace. They clearly aren't at war with terrorism and were not serious about capturing or killing OBL. The CIA and US intelligence did wonders, considering the lack of support from local law enforcement. Pakistanis everywhere should be ashamed that a foreign country is better at catching criminals in their country than their own government is.It's time we stop supporting Pakistan with US dollars for aid and we should certainly end arms sales. It's clear that any investment in that country is a complete waste, and may contribute to future terror attacks (since they seem to allow terrorists to live among them). - opinion from american
